hey guys, after reading all the posting about K100D, I've decided to get one. So just called OP and was quoted $860 with GST(Grey set with 1 yr shop warranty)). They have stock and most likely will go down tomorrow to get it !!!
As its my first foray into DSLR, any thing I must check, aprt from the usual physical checks ? Tks !

Is it a K100D or K100D Super? The price tag seems to be for a Super one

Anyway, both are excellent cameras, I'm sure you'd love it.

As to check the camera, just make sure it's not a returned one (w/ sign of use, especially at the lens mount side). Seldom heard any problem w/ K100D or K100D super yet. Besides, I'm sure you can bring it back for an exchange if you find something wrong with the camera within several days

i also gotten my k100 super just last week... everything was fine... until when you take a look at the manual... it has every language but english... you will have to download the english version from the internet...:bsmilie::bsmilie:

anyway i am also a newbie and have to refer to the manual...

As to check the camera, just make sure it's not a returned one (w/ sign of use, especially at the lens mount side). Seldom heard any problem w/ K100D or K100D super yet. Besides, I'm sure you can bring it back for an exchange if you find something wrong with the camera within several days

yap... bought it from orient photo... together with some must-have items (uv filter + cleaning kit)... hoping to get either a flash or a telezoom next... so you manage to download your english manual?

bought my K100D super yesterday !!! before i went up, i looked around first floor just to get a feel of "normal" prices ....... went into 2 ah beng stores & was quoted 950 for local set with agent warranty.. I asked, GST included ? YES was the reply. WOW !! wat a good deal i thought. for 90 bucks more ( OP quoted 860), it could buy me piece of mind. Wifey was with me, and also agreeable to 90 more for agt warranty. so walked into 1 of them , see see, checked then wanted to pay. then suddenly , price became 1016.50 ( with GST). I asked "Uncle, just down I asked you is it include GST you said YES ? " Uncle said maybe he said wrongly .... &$%$# so I said THANK you and went down to the other shop ....... which is worst !!!
reached the 2nd store, also kenna same thing, $1016.50 !!! somemore denied that he ever said 950 is with GST. Ok nevermind, was about to leave when he said he wld throw in a 2GB card + set of rechargeable batts ... hmmm, the GST amt ( $66.50) is almost the same price of the 2 freebies if I were to get from outside. so still not bad ..... so i said ok ..... ha, tts when the usual tricks comeout .... showed me a " macro/wide-angled lens" . its actually a screw on to exisitng lens stuff .... keep insisiting it's a proper lens ..... my foot !! box was cheapo, no company name no nothing, still wanna charge me $290 ! said no tks. then he TOLD me i definitely need a UV filter, can also protect lens. ok, i asked how much ? ( at the same time, he oredi screw onto my lens (brand i forgot liao). he said 45, and i said " so expensive. i dun need. tk you." tts when his face changed, kept looking at me in " shock", and kept repeating " you dun want? " he oso promptly dropped price from 45 -> 42 -> 35 -> 25 -> . i stayed firm as i know a HOYA UV 52MM can be had for ard 15. so he gave up and asked us to go opp (burlington sq to withdraw $$). got nets but insist on cash .... the last straw was -> on the way out , tt bl**dy ah beng said : once u stepped out with the cam, anything wrong with the lens not my prob ah ... ask u get filter you dun want. i tell you. your lens sure will get damaged one !! " WTF !!? haven buy oredi kenna cursed !! tts it. we went out to withdraw $$, then went straight to OP to get my cam ....
on hindsight, i should have just gone to OP straight away, but well .... lasat thing, the rechargeable batts + chrager he's giving for free turned out to be a "NO brand" one !! i dun think i will use it on ANY of my stuff man .......

well sounds like one of those shops that is blacklisted here in the pentax forum... fyi the uv filter i bought was only $10... good thing you didnt bought from them... anyway the chinese guy that serve me was quite friendly... unlike those you-know-who haha...

anyway like they said op was still quite reasonable as compare to those others... (maybe that why they are located at the highest so as not be associate with them :bsmilie

You always hear people talk about such shops. At least now you have experience it and know why these shops are blacklisted.:bsmilie: I got ripped off $8 by such shop before when i took it for granted and did not check.:sweat:
