Maybe all of you with Kingston SDHC card problems should post your card serial no./batch no. so can compare whether is it from a particular batch that we can avoid. That is, if you still have the problem card with you.

Hi,

Found two dark spots on every photo I took, not lens problem. Likely sensor or mirror. My Kx is new, so problem is, how to clean sensor and mirror if blower won't work? Is Sensor Swab the solution? I dare not do anything until I hear from the experts here, otherwise, spoil my precious Kx if I do anything stupid.

i have this funny problem with my kingston 8gb SDHC.
will not read my win XP pc. but ok for my vista laptop

even i bought a new card reader which specify can read SDHC card.

Just did a quick check with all my Kingston SDHC...
I own 1x 2gd, 2x 4gd, 2x 8gd and 1x 16gd.
All are made in Japan.
The 16gd that was giving me problem was from Taiwan.
Convergent pass me a MIJ instead.

So I guess in order to ensure good experience with Kingston SDHC, just buy MIJ.

Well, it can't be the mirror, because the mirror is not used for the actual shot.
Make sure you use the blower correctly. Did you put the camera into sensor-cleaning mode first before blowing? This should flip up the mirror and open the shutter to give you a direct view of the sensor.

Well from what a salesman told me, Kingston memory has some incompatibility issues with pentax cameras :bigeyes: so thats why i bought a sandisk(16gb) and i have had no problems so far

best is send to the service center if you don't know how to clean it.

Hm, I'm not sure which are the serial numbers... is it on a paper or on the box?

I JUST got mine and registered on-line which have additional 6 mths.
The box has 3 labels. Take the centre serial that contain 13 digital

I chk with seller and later contacted KEVAN from Pentax at Mobile: 90611701

hi peepz, i am wondering if anyone has any idea how do i turn off the blue light next to the shutter button? (besides switching off the camera, obviously =) )

Read the manual....it's there as I hv seen it and I set to low bright.

I noticed your firmware still Ver 1. If you encounter fast battery depletion issues, remember to upgrade to ver 1.01 which solves it.
BTW, for your photo, you can increase your ISO to 800 or 1600 as the kx is very forgiving with high ISO noise.

umm should be hold the menu button and on, then the firmware version will appear on the screen for a few seconds. To update firmware, you must first download the firmware from pentax website and put into the root of your memory card (the place you see DCIM) and make sure you have no photos in the card .When the camera is off press menu and turn it on ,then follow instructions on camera screen . make sure hav enough battery :bigeyes:

yes... i have same problem last time... buy a new card... card reader cannot read... HP can read... bring to service center... test ok, but they still change for me out of good will... on the spot i use phone to format the new card and ok... bring home try the card reader, still have error... so go try luck and buy another card reader, can read! but test old card with the old card reader is working one...:dunno:

actually when u download the new firmware from pentax website, the readme file included in the zip file has the instructions on how to do an update.

Huh? Don't you just drag and drop with Windows explorer?
