Pentax K-x help thread

Hi guys new to the family. Any tips on how to take good low noise night pictures? It seems like my night shots are still quite "noisy"

Provide more details and/or post your photo? Without any info at all, too many variables and assumptions. End up say a lot but may not be relevant to your particular situation.

Fast aperture and keep your ISO at 800 or lower. The kx should still be able to hold its own here. If taking stationary objects, bring it down to ISO400 and use a tripod with slower speed. :)

May i know how u do that.Coz mine cannot.I unzip the firmware and cannot copy the binary file to the root directory:angry:

I assume you already unzipped to the xxx.bin file? Then simply use explorer to copy the file to your SD card root directory and not within any folders. If you can't do it, ensure your SD card write protect is off. :)

Sorry but what is unzip?Anyway here is what happens:

I went to the Pentax website and downloaded it into my computer. Then there's 2 programs.1 is the README(instructions) and the other one is FWDC206B.

I open the FWDC206B and it says:you are attempting to open a file of type 'BIN file'(.BIN).Then i press 'open with..' and it says windows cannot open this file.To open this file, windows need to know what program created it bla bla bla.....

Then there are 2 options.1 is use the web service to find the appropriate program and the other is select the program from a list.Whichever i click,it will say 'No known program will open this file. This file is part of a program'

After that i am trapped cos there is no other way out:confused:

Don't try to open the file. Just copy and paste it to the root directory of your SD card.

OMG  you need winrar ... To unzip the file a rar file is a compressed file and to need to uncompress it using winrar ... Just search google and go to the winrar website and download it . Now when it ask you which program to use select winrar ;)

.bin file means you already unzipped the file. and means ready to load to SD for firmware update. just make sure batteries full otherwise you'll end up having a bricked k-x.

zip extension usually .rar and .zip... and that's the one you uncompress. :)

Anyone using Split Focusing on their Kx? can give me the reviews on it? Seems like very interesting lei. Since I'm slowly becoming a fan of Manual lens.

Any help on review and price is very much appreciated.

Ermm may i know where you download it?
is it here? http://www.pentax.jp/english/support/digital/k-x_s.html

Are you using a windows OS or a Mac OS?
There's 2 version in it. 1 is for Windows user and another for Mac user. Windows user would be downloading an .EXE file, while Mac user is a Zip file.

Hi bros,

May i enquire if the KX Dual lens Kit only comes in Black Body? Do i have to purchase another separate tele lens if i purchase the colored body KX?

Thanks

No.K-x body comes in 4 colours regardless of single or dual kit:)

The coloured k-x only comes with the 18-55 zoom lens :( If you want the kit 2 or 3 with 18-55 +50-200 or 55-300 they only come with a black k-x...:thumbsd: BTW winrar is a free application ... Almost every file that is downloaded is compressed using winrar to decraese file size which make uploading & downloading faster ;)

so u have downloaded the .exe file and extract the 2 files out? which one is a read me file and a .bin file. hmm. that's weird, that you can right click and copy the .bin file to ur SD card?

The read me file is instructions on how to install .just double click to read ... and the .bin file just place it in the root of your memory card which mean its not in any folder and you can see it when you open the mem card
