Seems like the road map is out for 2012 and 2013 for the lenses. Seems like alot of DA lenses coming out. That's good. Been waiting for more lens (maybe with a better motor) to go with.

I hope the 18-250 will make a come back. A pentax design rather than Tamron. That one seems to be launched in 2012. Man...think I need to start saving for the lenses and this K-01.

Jaw dropped when I saw that indicator for a 500+mm lens scheduled for this year....

Seems like some sort of 70-200 scheduled for 2013.

I just love the design. It is really out of the box thinking (pun intended) and I will definitely get one. The day the mirror and the optical viewfinder has been made redundant for Pentax has arrived. Thank God I didn't get the Q.

I hope this is not the case with the optical viewfinder. For me, a camera without an optical viewfinder is not a proper camera.

Looks can get by and get used to along the way, but the size/weight might be an issue to some. As to VF, there are far more people taking photos by looking at the LCDs than looking through VFs (phones, mirrorless, p&s ...), it won't be a big deal to most users

Well, it's gonna be a while before those looks get by, . I think the guy on that hands-on video was right when he said this is a polarizing design. Love it or hate it. I'm not a fan, neither are my P&S friends that saw it.

But i digress, I hope this sells well and evolves into a prosumer product. If they can slap a FF sensor in there, it's gonna be a whole new ballgame.

Looks like K5 would be my next camera.

K5 is only $1220.
Kr is $6xx
So I'd guess its about $900 being in between the 2 in performance.

The MSRP in the US is $900USD w/ the 40 lens, or $750 w/o. I'm guessing the actual price would be $100 to $200 cheaper after the early launch. Here in SG it's gonna be somewhere between $900 (body alone) to $1150 (w/ the 40 XR lens).

Looking at the roadmap, seems to have a 24-70 pro-grade DA* lens in the more distant future.. Judging from Pentax's love for providing FF-equivalents for the DA* line (eg the 50-135), I think there'll probably be a full frame camera that they're thinking of!

Glad to finally see these lenses come out- I've met people who left Pentax because the lack of lenses going past 300mm.

Not to offend anyone but personally I feel that the K-01 camera is quite ugly
Of course looks is not everything, performance is important too.

targeting different segment of the market, more of ladies cos the body is pretty, not handsome, not macho enough...:bsmilie:
