PENTAX K-01 - Prestigious International 2012 Product Design Award

It's partly the sensor, yes. But what surprises me is how much I like the shooting at arm's length style. Sure, it's less stylo, less stable, less, eh, 'pro'. But it's a revelation to me how much less tiring it is not to have to close one eye, and how liberating it is not to have your whole face blocked by the camera. Just feel less cramped. And it's just more fun. I know, I know, I'm regressing, I am no longer A Serious Photographer. ;)

And I got to check all the cool functions it has. Only ever used AV mode, centre focus point and.. that's it. Savvy I am not.

i like one handed shootin as well with a smallish prime lens on k-01

K01 + DAL 35 (A wonderful lens which is worth buying :P)

1st shot as a Pentaxian to share with K01+DA15F4 (thanks for the loaned lens Bernard!), 5 shots stitched :) Shot while waiting for wife, din have time to wait till the sun was lower, a tad overexposed shot on the right. First thought, this camera is heavy compared to all other camera. IQ is brilliant and hi iso 3200 is piece of cake. DR is awesome too. DA40 is rather noisy lens, so not so good for video. I like the multiple exposure 9 shots, shall try it soon! Thanks for viewing.

Nice idea bro, next time I try with 9 shot multiexposure with tripod:) Shot was made with HDR function inbody which took 3 shots, likely in multiple exposure (lite mode?) I haven't read the manual yet :embrass:

Hey everyone,

I was wondering what the lens compatibility of the K-01 is. Now, I know its pretty much any K-Mount lens, but I have a Ricoh Rikenon 28-80 f/3.5 which is superb on an old K-10 I had years ago and I am wondering if it will work the same on the K-01. I used it in Aperture mode and changed the f number on the lens itself.
I like doing that, but was worried when reading many posts on other websites stating the K-01 will not support such action, and M manual mode would be the only option. Do you think this lens on the K-01 can be used in A mode, with me adapting the aperture on the lens and the camera deciding shutter speed?

May I add the Rikenon I speak of has an P program mode at the end of its Aperture selections, which I assume confirms the auto aperture control.
But I am keen to select the aperture, with the camera deciding shutter speed.

You need to use the green button to stop down. P setting on lens does not work like the Pentax A setting on any Pentax body. I have a Rikennon P 50mm F1.7 but the P switch does not work like our Pentax lenses A setting on Pentax A lenses.

Cat portraits with K01+DA40, lovely wafer lens!

Hello, sorry to OT a little.

I just bought a K-01, its on its way to SG now. Can I ask for recommendations for 3rd party D-l90 battery? Cheap and reasonably good
Thanks!
