It is internal. Like fengwei mentioned, for press and limited group of people. My guess it is for these people to get to know a bit more of the new Pentax cameras before the official announcement.![]()
:think:Someone allegedly reported this from Dubai:
The new K20D will have live view and can preview picture on the viewfinder. The live view is also available on 3 inch LCD. There are two type of AF mode and they said that they have improved their AF performance..The AF uses a new Contrast Method and will not use their exist AF method(by Distance Measuring Mode). No info on whether they even realize that predictive/tracking focus is whats incredibly important to be done right on the K20D. At least as good as the D300 should have been the standard.
In continuous drive mode, this new model can shot 1080p full HD size up to 14-16 shot..while Nikon's D3 can only shot 510p up to 11 shot and unknown "p"(maybe 200p more than K20D) up to 10 shot on Canon's 1D MarkIII. It also can shot 3fps 12bit/14bit RAW file while Nikon's D300 only can shot 2.5fps 14bit RAW file. The GX-20 can record 720p video and maybe the K20D also has that feature..
The sensor will be 14MP CMOS APS-H sensor (approx 30mm X 16mm) will be a lil bit widescreen
Faster AF
Better SR than K10D
4fps
And AF is available in Live View which is better than 40D(can't use AF in Live View)

Assuming the leaked info is for real...
APS-H? I doubt it will still work well with DA* lenses without some nasty vignetting.
Contrast Detection-only AF? Not sure this is actually a good thing. That might be good for Live View a la P&S mode but for continuous AF tracking? Not sure the system can actually track that fast without a dedicated AF sensor chip.
Don't think too much about these. Someone probably just can't wait to see the official announcement anymore, so he/she made all these up :bsmilie:
The 'leak' does seem a bit far fetched ;p Especially the part about contrast-detection AF being the only option.
Also it would be nice to move onto a bigger sensor for only US$100 more :bsmilie:
Pentax Corp. focuses on DSLR development
Hitoshi Sasaki who leads Japanese sales of Pentax digital cameras at a recent press conference made remarks regarding Pentax Corp. sales policies this year, reports JPEA International PEN News Weekly.
"We will keep focusing on DSLR as we did last year," Sasaki said. "The segment will demand not only the cameras but also interchangeable lenses and accessories, contributing much to the expansion of sales and profits. The lens line will further be enriched this year. In the "Optio" series compact cameras, we will review the lineup where models under ¥30,000 (US$270) are the mainstream to upgrade overall lineup. The approach may be made in terms of product development and sales strategy."
Sasaki contined: "As for Hoya/Pentax merger, the Pentax brand remains unchanged and scale of the company has been enlarged. The new parent company may ask for higher profit ratio and we will make due efforts in that direction, centering on DSLR. We may not pursue larger quantity but will try to make our customers satisfied with attractive products."
