Just like M43, pundits hav been predicting the death of Pentax. Seems like Pentax was one of the fore runners of TTL metering so much so that it's latest K3 mark3 monochrome is one of 4 cameras to be chosen as Japan's Historical Camera in 2023. Not only that photons to photos released k3iii monochrome sensor measurements showing it bettered Leica Q2 monochrone fullframe sensor. Could Pentax k3 monochrome be Japan's APSC Leica? A cheaper one at that. See the review.

There is also the Pentax film project that will introduce 4 new film cameras in 2024. Watch for it! Unfortunately Ricoh will not be participating in Japan CP+ 2024 third year in a row.

A Leica photographer's take on black and white photography.

Very good.
All 4 cameras selected are great in their own way.
The HX99 was probably selected because their NRV model was a case of Sony subsidizing most of the cost, to make a camera for visually impaired.
