BTW I intented the images to run in a series. And that is why the mood and expression is maintain for this reason. It may be seen as boring but it's also consistent at the same time

Skye, don't give me ammunition to play with words!:bsmilie: :bsmilie:

Just for fun, don't take this seriously, OK?

I just can't help it.

So, therefore - "Consistently Boring!"

Nothing to do with seriousness. I think photography should be fun as much as possible, even for professionals.

And these images do bear your imprint.

Just that I feel if you are trying to portray sensuality, TO ME it does not work. As I mentioned, these images look comical to me.

I guess that's an individual interpretation of sensuality. I think I know where you are coming from. For me, I think funny is sexy. You can be sensuous in a quirky and commical way.

ok definately. I guess there always 2 sides to everything we do. I believe you may have also works which some people really love and on the other hand, some people really hates . You know what I really think? It's the boring works which no body ever talk about but flip and forget. I'm not afraid to make mistakes because I realise that it is a natural part of every human being.

Yes the model's mood is "consistently boring". Yes, we all talk about it. Yes, it is also comical, Yes it is exciting to me.

I like the last pic. I think he has very nice eyes. Maybe can try to bring out more from the eyes.

this type of 'technical' question tends to downplay the role of the photographer to the point of insulting him. or this type of question usually arises out of being ignorant too.

You are absolutely right!

And increasingly, I sense that my images are "less liked" by people here. (I hope that I am right!).

And that means one thing - I am getting better!

I am a new bird to photography, i want to learn! Hey Skye, you haven tell us what lens / camera you use for this shoot.

Well since there's a few people asking em what I equipment I use, I will state it here though frankly, I'm very relutant to do so. Not that I do not like to share, but I guess many people often are just interested in the technicality and equipments rather than the essence of making good images.

I started working mainly with trans on 120 format cameras. Today I use digital for most work. This series of work was shot on D2X using prime lens.

I think the point is not about people liking your pictures or not. But rather do they react to the pictures or not. Either they are disturb by it or in awe. But I guess understanding this also requires good control of techincal skills and conceptual ideas. Some amatuer use this as an excuse for poor quality work. But normally fall flat in long run. (not refering to you okay.)

Don't have to feel sorry lah. Just keep in mind that good equipments not necessary = good pictures. It will help in certain aspects such as reproduction. But not when the photographer do not understand and have good control over the equipment. Ultimately, it's more important you know what u want to acheive in your photographic concept or vision and use the right tool to help you get the feel or effect you want. Spend time understanding what textural quality does trans offers compared to digital medium. Different toy instruments compared with professional equipments. 35mm compared to 120, and large formats if you can.

Frankly, I don't own much equipments other than a manual 35mm for almost 6 years of my life as a photographer. I only just bought a D2X recently. For rest of the time, I just rent or borrow my equipments. And very much still do so today. It's not the camera that create impressive portfolio. It's the pictures.:)

thanks man, will remember that.

this is my favourite series of yours actually
second picture's too monkey-ish (his face)
the red really helps make him more vibrant
you post processed the skin quite abit right?
it's looking abit chuando. I'm not sure if that's good or bad heh

i can see a clear theme for the 1st 3 pics, but the 4th pic looks out of place in this series IMHO. this theme can be made stronger if your model only had 1 item of clothing for each pose. so...in pic 1 he is only wearing the necktie, in pic 2 i would lose the big round specs that make him look monkeyish and just go with the belt around his shoulder. in pic 3 i would like to see him lose the top and just wear the black leather shoes. the way his arms are positioned would protect his modesty anyway. nice work!

There is only one expression from the model in these images. Very boring.

I am not sure if that is sensuous at all. Taking off clothes does not make one sensuous.

A guy trying to look cool, and maybe trying to be sensuous.

The images do talk, but I feel all they say is "comic".

It's probably the smile. It looks more like a smirk.

Bro!

I enjoy the sense of exploration, i really don't know what kind comments you would appreciate, but after looking at the various comments .. let me encouage you by sharing this -

"It is easy to live after the world's opinion; it is easy in solitude to live after our own; but the great man is he who in the misdst of the crowd keeps with perfect sweetness the independece of solitude." - Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Cheers ( A big hug and a pat on the back )

Nice pics. Love the lighting. What was the campaign for? Dunhill? That was what I could think of with the men's accessories and red hue.

Hi Lindsay, This series of work is not for any campaign but just a test shoot for the model.
