Terra, a lens is just a len. It doesn't matter what lens I use or what len you use. learn good composition first and understand what the different lens does. Do you not know the difference between, wide, standard and closeup lens? By telling you exactly what I use is as good as spoon feeding a formula to you. If you really want to shoot like what I do, then use your heart.

.. rather do they react to the pictures or not. Either they are disturb by it or in awe.

Somehow the discussions in this thread have been useful to me. Set me thinking about how I should respond to different kinds of reactions from from different segments of this community.

My conclusion is this. Given my er, slightly "different" and eccentric perspective on people imagery, I would be very worried if most CSers like my images.

But certainly, once in a while, just for fun, I will post some images that I think most should like!
:D

Haha, I thought the model looked so-so at the start and then when I looked closer, I realised that he is pretty hot, it's just that his hair has been combed in an unflattering manner.

Haha.. i guess if i don't comb his hair in this manner, the result won't be what I wanted. We tried a few thing during the test shoot. and realise his hair looks best like that.
Weird. Maybe because he have big forehead

Doc, I'm glad you realised something out of the discussion here. I guess that's what I've always been trying to explain to people and photographers, but many are just interested in technical issues or making pictures which are overtly safe and beautiful. That is why sometimes you see me putting up work which I know jolly well know I will be bombarded. But sometimes people don't realise that it is infact an intention.

To me photography is a mirror to oneself. It reflect the photographers mind, and emotion. It is a part of the photgrapher and not just some detached thing.

true and false. Though it's nice to show a model's versatility, sometimes we just have to realise everyone's limitations. If he was to build a portfolio based on his character, thrust me he might only end up in runway shows rather than print works. There much more good-looking models out there with exciting characters as well.

I guess it really depends how far a model wants to see himself in the modelling industry. Solely commercial or able to move into high fashion work. This industry is cruel, and just skin-deep. No matter how we might like to challenge that, you can never fight with the entire society mind-set.

I guess my role as a photographer is just to capture how i see in my subject that is beautiful to me. I believe, others would have different opinion and concept on how to approach their subjects. That is the phillosphy of another photographer. And that is why a model have to learn how to work with various people to build a strong book. I won't do things which doesn't go in line of my philosophy and working style. And I don't think I'll ever be able to shoot him like how i did here if I were to work with intentions that are not mine. :)

What photo do you mean btw? You mean your pictures are blur that's why you can't get the photos? Maybe you can post up your picture so I can help you deduce what went wrong.
