Hi luffs! I stay on the side opposite Hai Sing Catholic School, block 469. Welcome to the thread!

Not sure if you guys know the monitor lizards at the canal near the fishing pond. There are actually 2 of them! I only realise 2 weeks ago when I was trying to chase one of them to take a picture. Then I saw the other one on the other side of the canal! I spent about an hour hunting down their nest, so perhaps interested brave souls can join me in my next "hunting" and take some pictures of these beautiful creatures before NEA, Zoo or whichever agencies decide that they are dangerous...

Hi Kaxdd,

I'm staying at blk 408 directly next to the the blue bridge. Yes, I've seen those lizards that you're talking of so many times but neva bothered to chase. So, have you found their nest? In fact around my blk, there's lotsa flying n water living creatures for any shutterbug to snap.

I like to head to the top floor of my blk during sun-down to capture the sun-set together with the facade of the park.

:)

Hi all, I live at Pasir Ris Dr 6 too, nearer to the fishing pond.. so that makes me closest to Kaxdd. Hahahaha..

Hi Velasco.. remember me?! from the Canon S5IS thread?!

Anyway, I too bought myself a Nikon D300 recently and is quite keen to go out shooting as well, perhaps get to know the Pasir Ris estate abit betta?

:)

Yupz, I found both their nests, but won't be exposing their locations online. I will show you guys the locations when we go explore the unknown sides of Pasir Ris. I know there are birds diving into the canal to catch fish. The sights are spectacular! I usually jog around the park on Sunday morning, so I do catch such sights of nature. Should find one Sunday to devote just to take some nice pictures.

I agree that the top of your block has got a very nice view for sunset photo taking.

Hi Velasco..

Hahaha.. breaking outta da pack n joining the bandwagon? So dramatic la u! hehehehe..

Anyway yes I know where the kueh lapis blk is, my buddy stays there too.

Oh valesco, I'm not rich. I just got a super good deal for my D300. So y wait?! Juz BBB!! :P

So when are u buying ur dslr? U armed wif ur camera already produces so many wonder pictures.. let u hold a dslr, become pro immediately.

Hi ziincx,

Well seriously speaking, there are lotsa creatures/animals that make frequent visit to the park and its surrounding. In the canal, you'll get huge monitor lizards, I've seen a baby crocodile a couple of times, u'll see white feathered birds nesting in the trees near the canal and sometimes if u're lucky u'll see the birds diving into the canal to pick up their meals.

If u wanna catch sunset, blk 408 is by far the best.. (if u wanna come, come alone or wif 1/2 frens) try to keep noise level low so as not to disturb the residents.

Happy shooting!

kaxdd, I haven't had the time to slowly walk and explore my surrounding due to work etc. Think I might just wake up early later, take a stroll along the park connector and around the park. I'm sure i'll be able to find interesting things to shoot.

OH THAT CANAL! My family reside at 426 (the one with the preschool below)for 10 years, so I practically spent my whole lifetime in Pasir Ris. I love strolling at that fishing pond. I shall go there soon, prolly Thursday or something. With work ending at 6pm, I don't know if there would be any catch there. Wouldn't these creatures already be making their way home or something, and my S5 IS is basically useless in lowlight shooting. HOHOhum.

... when they are spook too often, they will pack and move.

Nice to see this thread becoming active again.. I'm on the other end near the waffle-fab park. There's a slight elevated high ground at the heavy vehicle park where if I can make it back in time, will stop by if the sunset is attractive. below is one of the few shots I've taken

Also noted last weekend that a group of dirt bike enthusiasts do gather around the open ground after the waffle-fab to enjoy their sports. From far it does look exciting but I haven't tried dirt bike photography before. However, had an opportunity to catch the motor sport event at Tuas last week after work.

Any one knows any of those dirt bike riders and if we can have their schedule, perhaps can approach them for some photography opportunity. ;)

where's that waffle (or wafer) park? Near Elias there eh?

We should all go back, open our windows and take a shot of the scenery outside or something, or something which we can see from your estate. hehe. but boring ar?

That's a beautiful sunset u've got there jawzsg!

As I've just only gotten my cam, i'm still figuring out how to use and to get used to it. Will upload a pic of a sunset from my blk when I do snap 1. Btw, did u do any post processing to ur sunset? Or was it taken at abt 7pm?

Yeah I do agree that should the too many pple disturb the lizards, like u said, they'll move. I spotted 1 while walking in the swamp area in Sugei Tampines where the PUB Pump is beside downtown east.

So this thread wasn't active lately? Hmm.. we need to inject more life into it!!! :bsmilie:

heres the view from my kitchen, we get to witness beautiful sunsets too but obstructed :)
