No use barking at TS. I'm sure by now, there will be 2000 applicants willing to pay TS $15-$20 an hour just to get the job. Its happening but remember; when you offer peanuts, you will only attract monkeys.......

to a pro, $20 is definitely doesnt make any sense.. even a beginner photographer.. TS must appreciate photographers' effort to produce hi quality images.. we r not aiming for 1 lorry of money but at least to be appreciated... :)

I am a stingy ******* when it comes to paying my guys but I believe the outsource rate should be at least $40 per hour and up to $80 per hour for public holidays.

I mean as a professional studio u charge about $80 to $100 an hour on average... surely u cannot pay ur guy only $15 - 20....

Anyway good luck on ur hunt.

$15-$20 per hr perhaps just the begining. After the shoot, maybe still demand for photo editing, want this want that....Then after the day, they will to convince the photographer ( newbie ) to print out the pics and tell them the same story again. Example Tan ah gao is that newbie. " Hey ah gao, u print out the photo for us can ? Coz we r too busy,so can do me a favour?. If ur service is good, next round we sure call u again. "Next round we sure call you again"...sounds good right ? Poor Tan ah gao,he really believes what they said.. My "behind".Ok another thing, B4 the shoot, they sure tell u " Very easy 1 lah, very easy so no worries". Once u accept the deal, thats it. Why ? On the day u see lah. Tell u do this do that..am i right to say that ? Come to payment, of coz drag for few months..:D:D:D.

Dear all,

I am very happy to hear all these comments made.
Honestly, as a hobbiest, i have the most respect for PROS.
At first, i did not know that but after i got my DSLR, oh man you really give them more respect.
Please pay them the money they deserve.
I truly believe good money = good service = good product.

Cheers

better rates than MC donald...

15/20 an hour is crazy.

standard for event is 150/hr.
outsource maybe half but not 15/20/hr

better rates than MC donald...

Ya the fella working in McDonald's can say:"Hey if I save enough to buy a DSLR, I can earn triple my current hourly rate!" :bsmilie:

Lets say if this event is just a short 1 like maybe a few hours, of course 15/20 dollars is very little to me, this is not Macdonalds job which i have worked before at a mere 3.20/hour.

If this event is at least totaling up to more than 12 hours, i guess it is not that bad right?
$15 Might be even quite cheap for me though.

Wow ..

So many pro giving so many pro comment

But is there so many $150.00 per hour job out there ?? Daily , monthly , or yearly $150 per hour ..

A good friend of mine is a malaysian ,

He stay in johore

He come to Singapore everyday

He take Event and Wedding photography job almost everyday

He can make around $200.00 sgd daily but not more then $250.00

He dun do other job , only pure photography.

A full day wedding job , he will make $220.00 sgd and + Red packet

He is always fully book by all different Studio.

His name is leong from KL

I think the fact is there are 10 dollar job , there are 20 dollar job , there are our so call pro rated job by you know who ..

At the end of the day who get most of the job now are still .. Just why thrash people when you think like a pro just because you guys had a deeper pocket.

Some reply here are not fair , some reply with distorted figures.

you need to know what you are looking for and as long as some express interests then that's good ..

Singapore is a free market , some reply are imposing a fee rights , I think it's that serious and it's very dangerous , as long the price is clear to those who are interested , I dun think anyone can say these fact are making use of them ,its money that will go into these people pocket just let them decide ..

Pro is just not that simple ..

There are one line by kit which I really like is that

" You pay peanut and you gets monkey "

I'll add another one after yours .

" You pay lobster but still you get a gorilla "

when we talk about photographer rates , everyone wants as high as possible but behind them is still all those dirty little cut throat tricks ..

I dun mind doing/ joining for....but the payment must be upfront before the shoot. pics delivered as it is...no PP

Time are bad...even my photographer friends kena stood up by event company that supposely to paid $50/hr...rate that soon going to replace them with imports from north which are cheap as claimed by the TS..
Just curious is the TS the event company i mentioned:think:

It is a free market. Price fixing will help us who are in the industry full time. It will also, on the sideline, do something which I have always hoped for (nah, I'm not going to mention what that is). ;p

However, a cartel or trade monopoly simply will never happen because those who are getting paid high, will never agree to lower their prices to fit the cartel's (and neither will the cartel raise prices to 5 digit figures for a weddding will it?). Likewise, those who charge lower stand to make a killing by undercutting the cartel. How are you going to plan on monitering who exactly is dealing under the table?

Just accept what happens. I ahve learned to do so. If there is a person who charges low, and a photographer who accepts that low figure, so be it. It is none of our bloody business, and there is nothing we can do about it anyway. Why whine?

Pls ask ur friend to be a s'porean........then see what he will do with the peanuts he gets....cos he will be struggling even to pay handphone bills.

TS run away??

TS run away??

Maybe its the fly-by-night kind. Now you see it, now you don't! ;)

Oh well, all said and done, I don't mind taking it up at $15/hr, if there are a couple of hours involved (at least 4) and refreshments provided. Hmm. Seems that at this rate, no need for pros. I think 400D and kit lens + speedlite would be enough. :bsmilie:
