Parents, do you have a maid?

Let me answer on behalf of my parent, we have a maid!

Once, when I was at my friend's house, I entered a wrong bed room --it was his maid's room. The reason was, the maid room is bigger, and even has bed while my friend sleep on the ground! Sounds ridiculous, doesn't it?

One of my friends justifies it as such, she employs a maid so that she can go out to work and earn more money. Well, if you have a young kid, getting a maid does make economic sense since no matter what, your salary is higher than the maid's salary. If you stay home to take care of the kid and don't work, then you are making a loss in (your income) - (maid's salary + agent fee). Of course, there are other things to consider besides economics and $, this is just an analysis of the dollars and cents.

I think after some times, they will get abit smarter and starts to follow our lifestyles and know what is good and what is bad. I think this is normal.

It is human nature to want to push boundaries; therefore if you give any human an inch, he will want to try to get a foot the next time, unless he is mentally challenged.
It is the same human nature that wants to push boundaries that enables us to make progress and new breakthroughs... otherwise, we would still be living in caves?!!
So this aspect of human nature has its pros and cons... do not condemn it for it is an important propeller of change and advancement.

This is my point of view and the reason why I don't get a domestic helper.

A maid is the new form of slavery (very personal opinion). Even the term 'maid' is derogatory and harks back to the old days of 'class' and policemen in bermudas.

I do agree with you... in a way, it is modern slavery, albeit in a more humane form for most people.
Some people have tried confer their maid with some dignity by referring to them as "domestic help"... but I just think this term is so fake and surface. It is like in US, they give their rubbish cleaners the title of "waste disposal SPECIALIST"... sounds uber grand, yah? At the end of the day, do these titles do anything to change their status or job scope?!? Just fancy names.

i once met a lady who said its so easy to cook a huge pot of food. she literally cooked with her arms folded and people sang praises of her food. in her next round, she made two pots of food (with 20kg of premium rice from japan).

her maids did all the cooking and she just directed them. i went speechless.... :bsmilie:

mmm.... actually, a maid for can cook well is really good. My sister has a maid who can roast christmas turkey with stuffings, ribs, apple pie, cakes, etc. Previous employer was an angmo who sent her to all sorts of ang mo cooking classes...

my family maids are all sent for cooking, and 1st aid + CPR courses.
and i test them everynow and then.
