Panasonic SD7

Hi everyone,
Anyone have any idea whether this model (out in Japan already) will hit our shores in the near future?
if not, any one thinks it's a bad idea to parallel import from japan? It's an ntsc camcorder though.

Suggest u PI it in if u can. the SD5 retails at about S$1800 at Best Denki, when the SD7 is out, i think it should be priced at about the same or more.
I got my SD7 from Tokyo at a bit less than $1000 with a 4G SD card.

not with the dvd burner.

the power charger is dual voltage (like your typical handphone charger)

If u can wait a few more month(march to april),SD 9 will be out with 5.1 surround sound ,face detection for video & photo.

I just bought a SD5 which was on special offer from Best Denki at $1,999 !:bigeyes:
Came with extra 4G SDHC card, hard case, external dvd burner (VW-BN1) and Pinnacle Studio Ultimate (Ver 11) software though.

Camcorder stuff is really cheap in Tokyo. When I was there in mid last year, the Sony CX7 was selling for SGD1800 for the PAL version! Even B&H is selling this for far less than Singapore.

I would suggets that you either buy a cheap SD camcorder now and hold off buying HD camcorders, Panasonic is moving too fast and the life cycle of their camcorders is too short. The SD9 will be appearing soon and the SD5 and SD7 will become obeselete because of 24p.

SD9 is out, it retails for $1550 before GST. Comes with 4GB SDHC class 4 card.

That's only available in NTSC, I don't believe that a PAL version will be available. SD9 has 25p plus some other enhancements. SD5 and SD7 are effectively made obselete after only 6 months.
