Panasonic LUMIX DMC-LX100 & LEICA D-Lux Type 109

Quick question, I got a Nissin i40 for my LX100 to do off camera strobing. It seems that it can only be triggered by the on camera flash, is there a way to stop my on camera flash from getting in the photo? I mean besides blocking it... Is there a setting that will have the on camera flash just pre fire and trigger my off camera flash?

It doesn't need to be high speed U3, as long as it's U3 spec. E.g., The [SanDisk Extreme 32GB UHS-I/U3 SDHC Memory Card Up To 60MB/s] is currently going for only US$35 on amazon.

SITEX offer SGD$36...

I think Kardinsky is referring to the 64gb one. Cos i hooted 2 64gb sandisk extreme for 34.99usd each. Hail black friday!

Correct, was referring to the 64gb one. Was a typo in my post.
I just ordered one a month ago at US$42... but don't feel too bad... still cheaper than sitex :bsmilie:

The LX100 has a function to set the on camera flash to [OFF], but this is only compatible with Panny/Oly flashes that support the wireless triggering.

Suggest getting wireless radio triggers like the yongnuo RF-603II. About S$50 for a pair locally.

If the read speed is the most important spec to you, yeah, the Sony may be a more suitable card for your needs.

Is this the product you are referring to? http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/917679-REG/sony_sf64ux_tqn_64gb_sdxc_uhs_1_memory_card.html

From the product description:

64GB SDXC Class 10 UHS-1 Memory Card from Sony

Maximum read speed of 94MB/s
Maximum write speed of 45MB/s
Minimum transfer rates of 10MB/s.

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/917679-REG/sony_sf64ux_tqn_64gb_sdxc_uhs_1_memory_card.html

SanDisk 16GB Extreme UHS-I Speed Class 3 SDHC Memory Card (Class 10)

Maximum read speed of up to 60 MB/s
Data write speed of up to 40 MB/s
Minimum transfer rate of 30MB/s.

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1070829-REG/sandisk_sdsdxn_016g_g46_extreme_sdhc_uhs_1_u3.html

Write speed is what matters while shooting/recording, and minimum transfer speed is what matters most for video. This Sandisk article explains the difference between rated speed and speed class.

Remember that the maximum figure given is based on 'up to...', it's a speed which the card might reach at certain points of operation, but it's not a guaranteed sustained rate.

In that sense, the Sony card in this case, you can say it will definitely write between 10-45 MB/s, while the Sandisk will definitely write between 30-40MB/s. See the difference?

Anybody collected their pre-order free gifts yet? Any problem collecting them and what is the last day for collection? Cannot find the advertisement on the pre-order any more to get more information.

Check the details with the shop you purchased from?

Thanks for the info! I've set it up like in the manual but it still does not work...

Anyways to follow up for anyone who wants to know, optically triggering a flash with the LX100 does not work 100%. The on camera flash that is supposed to be the trigger always creeps into the shot even when set to OFF in the menu. It seems like a Panasonic flash protocol timing issue as this has not happened to me before on Canon systems, I'd always be able to use the on camera flash as a trigger and it never gets into the shot. I've tried both the Nissin i40 and the Panasonic FLR360 flash and it didn't do it for me, might be a LX100 bug or something.

I've since returned the flash and got a set of small radio triggers with a cheapy Yongnuo flash and it's been great so far!

Collected the redemption.. Battery given is the same as the original blg10..

Collected the freebies for the LX100 today as well. No issue collecting, just need to bring along the original receipt, warranty card and IC.

Not sure about whether there is a last day.

Will receive the camera case, 16GB SD card (Panasonic SD-HC U1), S$50 NTUC voucher and one spare battery (original)

Thanks.

For those pre-ordered Leica, stock is already available in HK. Stock for Singapore is expected to be here this week

It's amazing how misinformed the leica shops are here. They were so sure that we will be getting the stock in Singapore first claiming that singapore is the distribution centre for Asia even though it is already available in Tokyo and Hong Kong. Their estimated arrival dates kept being pushed backwards week after week. I hope this is not a reflection of the after sales service at Leica.

This will be my 1st rebadged Leica..so not sure if it will receive the same level of aftersales service...but from my past experiences with them...their aftersales is good.
