Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX8

My guess the 7-14F4 is "drive you maddest" right?

It has done its best to torture me for the longest time. Time to give it a GX pill. Doctor says that is the best remedy for the Panny-ache.

Lol , is microcosm getting the O7-14/2.8 ?

Ordered for pick up later on when I get home in Auckland.

or u can get the O-trinity :D

Already done. I will have both O and P trinity complete by the end of the year.

Would be better if Panasonic carries this in Singapore soon ... :bsmilie: :)

On panasonic singapore webpage, the GX8 comes with 3 options:

1) Body only
2) with 12-35 kit lens
3) with 14-42 kit lens

Since the GX8 is already listed in their Panasonic Singapore website, does this mean anything ? Does this mean we do not have to wait so long like the GH4 ?

Thank you

Looks like the wait wouldn't be too long, but one never know what Panasonic thinks. I don't think m4/3 is that white hot anymore like it used to be. So GX8 should be easily available when it is officially made available at worldwide dealerships. But I am almost always wrong when it comes to Panasonic launches. WongLP is the best resource you guys have when it comes to Panasonic products. He is more in touch with Panny than I am.

kudos to that. I'm totally out of touch with Panny. Their marketing dept just seems... very peaceful.

Wong LP is our best bet liao.

Wondering will the GX8 have the live composite like those Olympus do ?

I think bet 4d better haha. I totally dunno about gx8 till this thread. But I'm checking. Will update here if anything hor:)

That was the initial reason why I got a Panny body. Personally beside the video function, Panasonic's AWB when used indoor with strobe lights are pretty accurate. For me it's much better than Olympus' AWB which I have "coax" to get it correct in both RAW & JPG

There is a "Multiple Exposure" function but its not as sophisticated as what you find in the Olympus cameras

有赌未为输. :)

Thanks wonglp, pls try to ask when will arrive in Singapore ... :):bsmilie:

Thanks

Ryan interested in the GX8 too ?

Yes Keith, been waiting for this and the Sony A7000 !! Wait until neck also long liao ... :bsmilie:

Haha, hope the GX8 fulfills your needs. Spec wise it's indeed a breakthrough for MFT but I'm also curious about how much larger than GX7 it is. Dual IS , and post focus alone are very interesting stuff.

and very big hint here to the brand - u wan people to buy , go and put in efforts to win people over by having a decent promo campaign.

I don't understand. In what ways not decent? I only know the camera phone launched in Europe, but hardly in Asia.

Handled the gx8 sample model (no electronics) yesterday. Feels more hefty and looks bigger, but translates to a better feel in hand. Very in line with what other hands on reviews have said.

Yes, I need the 4K for video which can record continuosly for more than 30mins to complement my GH4 when I am doing video of the same scene but different angle.

And I need the stabiliser on the body because when I used the Olympus 75mm F1.8 lens (which do not have stabiliser on the lens) in darker environment, it doesn't shake.

So, for me the GX8 is the best combi ... it has both of what I want in one camera ...

I am not sure why there is almost zero promo from Panny :dunno:, perhaps the guys in Panny's marketing dept prolly all holding engineering degrees .... no disrespect to engineers though ... :bsmilie::bsmilie:

another plus for me, GX8 is also perfect for me bcos I prefer it to be bigger ... the GX7 is a tad to small for me ... all my fingers got cramped ... :bsmilie:

Curious to know how effective is the Dual -IS system (compared to those in OMD). And also why is the Microphone jack using a 2.5mm input?

effectiveness I have not been able to try myself yet :( But one thing is for sure, Dual-IS only works with Pana lenses with built in IS (so one also gets limited coming to lens choice).
