Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX8

As to my purchasing decision with regards to EM5 MII and GX8.

I tried handling the EM5 II with the Oly 12-40 zoom but felt is was unbalanced that I had to use it with the ECG2 grip with adds to the weight since it was all metal. (Didn't want to try the HDL-8 since it blocks the battery door with was counter-intuitive in my opinion.)

The EM5 II body was relatively small and densely packed with buttons that I ended up having little to grip on.

Personally, using GM1 for a year played a role for me deciding to get the GX8 since I am used to the overall controls and menu of Panasonic.

I understand that Panny's SOOC Jpeg is no match to that of Oly but I do do some PP. So each to their own! It is kind of subjective here haha.

Harvey Norman cash 1445. Same standard freebies. Getting my set now
Congrats, bro boboshot on the purchase of your new toy ...

Post some pics leh ...

Happy to answer any questions you all might have! Might take some time since it is still day zero of me owning the camera! Still playing around with the settings:)

Hi bro,

1. Can test it on video 4K mode and see whether it can record more than 30 minutes continuous ? (record video 4K say for 45 mins).

2. Can test if the recording of the 4K video is more than 4GB, will it be spilt into multiple files ?

Thanks

Just bought my set with the 12-35 f2.8 zoom today! I gotta say the Dual Image Stabiliser met my expectations! Managed to get a sharp shot at 1/4 sec. at the 35mm end of the zoom. The lens was updated to the latest version supporting the Dual IS straight out of the box :)

I had to adjust the color of the viewfinder though. It was much more warm compared to the screen. Could be the other way round, need to load the images to my PC to see.

The overall speed (focusing, menu & image browsing) of the camera is a step-up from my GM1 I gotta say. Very smooth! Likely due to the the processor and the DFD?

But now I'm a happy man with the most portable GM1 and the beast of the GX8!

May I ask the Dual IS is by default ON or do i have to set it up?
I cant seems to find it in the menu. thanks

You need to turn on the IS switch on the lens to get the dual stabilization benefits.

So body IS is default on?
There is an option stabilizer in the menu. Can set to stabilizer left to right or up and down.

I thought body IS is 4 axis. Left right up down.
Anyone can enlighten me?

I like the physical size of the gx8 too.
I feel the evf is shaky at times compared to Olympus.

Hey there bro,

I'm out for the whole day and didn't bring the camera with me.

As to your first question perhaps you can refer to this under Continuous Recording Time.

I'll get back to you regarding the 2nd question :)

Yes for both 1 and 2

Thanks kel77.

Any settings that we can adjust so that when the 4K video is more than 4GB, it will NOT be split into multiple files ?

Thanks

I don't think there is an option for that.
