Panasonic Digital Still Camera DMC-FZ200

good to see that it has improved much over fz100

I bought this camera at TK Foto recently for S$696. Planned to use it as the B Cam for my video projects.
Did a short video of some test shots at Boat Quay.

In my opinion, the semi-auto focus button is the best feature on this camera, next to the constant f2.8 throughout the entire 25-600mm range of course.
With very little practice, I was able to execute rack-focus shots without much difficulty.

Fz200 hmmm... ,anythings that will convince me to change my Fz150 for it ?

Thanks, buying one soon.

Bought one on New Year Eve as a present for myself. From SLRR @ 682. That fella refused to reduce to 680, but gave me a useless mini tripod instead.

Delighted with the new toy which has many features, new or better than my present fz100. Among them a 1.3 million dots equiv EVF, 3 dedicated Fn buttons. High speed movie at 100 pfs hd and 200 fps vga resolutions. I have set the side zoom lever for manual focussing, easier than the other way of using the rear dial/cursor button.

Here is a short video clip, using the high speed movie feature, to show an Olive-backed Sunbird sipping nectar from the flower of Heliconia psittacorum 'Lady D' in slow motion:

Edit: With high speed recording, there is no audio track. What I have done is to dub an audio clip of Black-naped Orioles in their courtship songs in the video.

hi, I have a question. Is there a function to set up folder name, that is, pictures taken are saved by, say, date, instead of saving into one folder. Currently all the pictures are saved into the standard folder. It's very difficult for me to find a picture taken in a specific date. Anyone got the answer?

Not sure how you transfer pics to your pc. For me, I use a card reader. After the PhotofunStudio is launched, I come to this screen as shown:

You can choose the folder and subfolder according to your wish.

Hope this answer your question.

Edit: You can choose recording day as the default subfolder. Go to Tools>Setting> General >Basic and select the preferred option.

Thanks, mrsun, I'll have a try

Here is another video, of a Black-naped Oriole sipping nectar of Bottle Brush tree flowers, taken this morning in my condo. It was unusually quiet and there was hardly any noise.

Is this correct?
Please check.

1/2.3 inch sensor in Lumix FZ200
6.16mm x 4.62mm = 28.46 square mm

MFT sensor
18.0mm x 13.5mm = 384.2 square mm
MFT sensor is 13.5 times bigger than the FZ200 sensor.

FF
24mm x 36mm = 864 square mm
FF sensor is 30 times bigger than FZ200 sensor.

If you are interested in dimensions only, then all details can be found towards the end of the page:

Raise awareness of sensor size as one of the various factors to consider when evaluating whether to buy; regardless of brand and model.

The salesman will never want to talk about it when trying to close the sale.

But take care of the audience if one wishes to discuss this; some people may get angry if they misunderstand.
