it is true that there is such a rumor. but the rumour might not be true.

I'm wondering if the rumored new OIS version does any benefit (or might be the opposite - disadvantage) to OMD body as OMD has built-in 5 axis IS.

For those who own this lens how is the current version perform in OMD body? any issue to highlight?

Thanks

In the manual of OM-D, they did mentioned that if you are to use the IBIS, switch off the lens' OIS, and if you are using the lens OIS, switch off the camera's IBIS, they don't work together. Not sure what will happen when you switch both on... or you simply couldn't.

Anyway, for 7-14mm type of focal range, I seriously don't see any needs for anyone to switch on IBIS or OIS (if they have). I know from my experience with my Canon + 12-24mm lens, I can shoot at f4 and at long shutter speed and no shakes at all and that is without any IBIS or IS.

I believe someone tried that with the 100-300, the sensor will jump around like crazy as the 2 IS fight each other.

The OIS might be helpful for night shots, tho. But I would imagine that those who buy this lens are shooting mainly landscapes and would have a tripod ready most of the time.

Now i'm really itchy to get this lens :-)

Friend just helped me to buy the 7-14 from HK. It is HK$7,000 from a shop called New Sankyo. I was told no warranty. I'll have opportunity to use it when I have an event at the Gardens by the Bay domes next weekend. Looking forward to it.
