fz18 can take 46mm(extending barrel) and 55mm(outer fixed barrel)

in order to use a macro lense, or teleconverter, you'll need an adaptor tube. panasonic has this as an optional part(DMW-LA3) but it's very hard to find in shops. you can also get third party brandless tube outside at cheaper price.

now comes the problem of using this type of tubes. they cause vignetting at wide angle aka 28mm. and in order to shoot without vignetting, you got to remove the tube. then one smart alex from dpreview.com came out with an idea of this peramaal adapter tube, which if unused, can be "shortened" by turning the tube inwards, thus solved the vignetting problem.

there are quite a few guys who bought this peramaal adapter and had them permanantly fixed onto their fz18. i'm one of them.

by using this peramaal adapter, it'll also step up the thread size to 62mm, as it's code name PA62E suggested.

oh i see... my dad use to have alot of old cam... and have afew old 55 and 52mm filter... which i think would be good if i can use those too, like save money...haha.... eh... can the peramaal adapter have a step up to thread size of 55mm??? or is it set at 62mm only???

the peramaal adapter is having 62mm threrad. and if you use a 55mm or 58mm filter using a step down, it's not going to work too well bro..

seriously the peramaal adapter is needed only if you intend to use teleconverter etc. if you only wanna use filter only, i suggest you go buy 46mm filters and screw it direct onto the camera barrel.

i see... most probaly not getting it then i guess... dun really like to zoom to much, quality not so good...at most is get wide angle, and the rest i think is using filter... thanks for the suggestion

Not really solely for teleconverter...If you really wanna venture into filters, u can buy tianya filters. One con of screwed filters is the GND filters. Because u cannot guage the area u wanna it be darker....

yup.. and you'll also need the adaptor if you wanna do macro with raynox dcr-250 etc.

i personally find the fz18 performs well at full tele. at least acceptable for me. for unsharp images, it could be due to hand shake and using a tripod is highly recommended.

The battery on my unit had beem charged for 3 hours and the green light had gone off.
Does it means that it is ready to use?
Or do i have to leave the battery alone for the next 5 hoursto make it 8 hours in total?

dont need to waste money on such stuff unless you plan to transfer your pics in a faster rate.

Hi guys anyone care to share what setting do you use when shooting a person in a dark area and night shots?

I tried using NIGHT PORTRAIT result in person too bright and background too dark, i wish to set it to have enough light to show a portrait taken at night.

I tried using SCENE MODE //STARRY SKY result in < Sleepless @ sentosa P1030082_L >
<too bright >

M MODE F8.0 8 ISO100 result in < Sleepless @ sentosa P1030084_L >
< A little dark >

What are your settings
