I got my cam and went for a 3 day 2 night camp at ubin.

Well quite impress with the cam but the software for editing is way suck!

Seriously i prefer nikon picture project, idiot proof, good auto editing, and will not lag!

So guys what did you guys use"Software" for editing?

Neatimage plugin with either Paintshop Pro XII or Photoshop Element 6. The "autofix" function of both are not always idiot proof... you need to play around with the setting to get your desire result.

Well i reason i use nikon software as it appear to me that the pics was adjusted to much more natural and well balance. Haha thx bud i will try the sofeware you recommended!!

Have a nice day ahead!

Take a Train to "City Hall", look for a building name "Peninsula Plaza" do note there is a hotel and a plaza, so find the right one, and look for a shop name "Cathay Photo", not the lowest price but definitely about 550-600 region...

lords is good, but i not sure if they carry pana goods that much or not, most of the cameras i seen there are olympus/canon PnS, and various brand dSLR...
but well, its worth trying.

Hi All,

I dont want to sound stupid, but sometimes, I've learnt that it pays to ask the obvious.

Since I purchased the camera, I have been trying to figure out the many features and manual adjustments that the FZ18 allows, but honestly, I have no frigging idea what most of the options do actually.:embrass: I have read the manual and I've been reading up on the net but there are still many questions or doubts and frustrations even in my mind on what is the right setting to use/when to use it.:what:

Are there any such classes, courses or seminars that cater specifically to beginners in digital photography that teaches you how to use the manual functions on ones camera? Better still is there such a thing specifically catered to FZ18 users/owners?:think:I do not have any friends that are keen in photography and hence, I dont have many people to turn to. Sigh.

As all of you can guess, I am a total noob in this domain and I am an eager beaver so to speak since I just got the camera and the fire is burning hot in me to play with my new toy.:D

I am sorry if my post is irrelevent or senseless, I just felt that I needed to ask.

Hi All,

Hi kevkie, you can first read up your manual to explore your camera, and google it under "Lumix fz18 review". You'll find enough material to carry on for days! ;)

 You are right...I missed the date. Ok I'll be monitoring the sub folder more closely from now on. Thanks ddwmk2002 for your kind reply. I appreciate it.

You can start off reading (resources on web or books in library) on Aperture, Shuttle, ISO and white balance. These are few fundamental of photography you need to understand and after so, most of the setting will make sense to you. Not only FZ18 but pratically any camera you may use.

There are much more but perhap you can start off with these first. :)

Thanks ddwmk2002, I will start checking out book in the libraries soon. Are there any "must read" books for beginners?

I am not sure about what are the "must read" books... I have read some books but that was almost 30yrs ago. My first camera was the Nikon F3 launch before 1980. :bsmilie:

The concept btn flim and digital camera is quite similar especially in the Aperture, Shuttle and ISO area. The only diff being image capture on film vs image capture on sensor and save to mem card. Darkroom vs Photoshop skill for pp.

I guess any basic guide to digital photography will be good for a start. Even antique books on film photography will also help you to have an idea on the principles of image capturing. It's like accountancy... The principle never change much. What change thru the years are only the tools... :)

I read from some reviews that the FZ18 comes with a complete manual in pdf format. Go through it together with your camera and play with it along the way. That should help in the first step! ;)
