thanks! didn't know the e510 battery door is removable.in order for the grip to provide power to the camera, it has to slot into the battery compartment of the camera..
i.e. with the grip on, there is no place you can put the battery(s) other than in the grip.
btw, anyone knows if the grip is available at this IT show?...
why is it so ex compare to the the price stated in this thread. ie $137.![]()
The cheaper price was the special deal between the distributor and the community when the grip was first released in Singapore.

can anyone help to try on your e510 with the grip using one battery only and if it functions? thanks.Just got mine from the IT show. 198 and comes with 2 aa battery clips on top of the 2 clips for the oly batteries. Is it compulsory to have both installed clips to have batteries? I left one empty and the camera shuts down when connect the short cable to the usb port on the camera. Is this normal? I have only one battery now, so can't try with 2 batteries to see if will work as normal. If i don't plug in the cable, the one battery can power up the camera, but once i plug in the cable and try to operate the camera, the camera shuts down, and when i unplug again, the camera comes alive again.
if you want it cheap can get from orient photo for $130.

you mean the L R A switch? i have tried all 3, but the problem is the same. I also put to A-type battery as stated in the manual. Its as if the battery becomes very low in power when i connect the cable to the camera USB's port, and fine if i don't connect the usb cable. the camera can take maybe about 1-2 shots, then after that cannot operate anymore, as if the battery is very low on power, until i plug out the usb cable from the camera then it will start working fine again, but the shutter on the grip won't work of course, with the camera only drawing power from the grip.you might want to check your "power" mode. the 1st 2 modes draws power from either the left or right battery only. mode 3 draws power from both at the same time, maybe this is causing the problem?
i asked yest and said need to order and can get stock on tues. but i was in a hurry so got from IT show instead. Thanks Digdub and Microcosm.
I had called OP but they said no stock. sian....![]()
