OT : Bags, Bags, Bags

just saw their website and yes... Billingham looks way cool, really like LV of camera bags... but frankly, i travel to third world countries a lot... I'll pass that to avoid getting robbed... :)

thanks all folks for contributing to this thread... i had learned a lot about camera bags today...

Then I will suggest DIY from a army bag and look fierce... haha just kidding.

go for those rugged looking and inexpensive kind. actually backpack which opening from the back work well and it is actually good for traveling to countries which you are worry about.

After the Crumpler 7 Milion Dollar Home, I was still not quite satisfied and starting the search for the perfect bag (yet again), and after some sweet-talk and persuasion from the WIFE (Woman with Influence over Financial Expenditures), I placed the order for the Shootsac with the Cowboy cover. It's the most expensive bag I've ever bought! Some say it's the 'Gucci' of camera bags... :embrass:

Technically it is not meant to be a camera bag but more a lens bag (think Boda but without the bulk). I've been carrying it for a week now and absolutely feel comfortable with it. In fact, I carry my E-620 and 12-60mm (body and lens separate) in it everyday to work. I'm someone who likes the camera to be with me as much as possible. If I carry the E-3, the camera will be attached to the R-strap, and I think it is a very nice combo (R-strap & Shootsac).

It's the most expensive bag I've bought, but I lovin' it! And it is something the Mrs doesn't complain when I bring it out, cos it looked damn cool on me, she like it when I look cool :bsmilie:

When researching prior to purchase, I do come across negative comments about the Shootsac, and horror stories of lens falling out of it etc.... but I guess the 'cool' factor and form won me over (the WIFE plays a big part), and I click the 'Buy' button.

If anyone is interested, I can post some pictures of the 'sack'.

So, travelling from places to places, it will be the Lowepro Primus, running around town and shuffling between home and the in-laws, the Shootsac is perfect.

When I got the Crumpler 7 million dollar home, I thought it was THE bag for me, but now it has been relegated to the cupboard, and very soon it will be in the buy/sell. ;)

thats a nice one,
do you think it can fit in 2 body with lens?
do they all come in one size?

Unfortunately, the bag can't take 2 bodies, it can't even fit a body with a lens attached, the body and lens must be stored separately. It only come in one size, although there are many inter-changeable covers. The bag is not meant for transporting of gears, it's designed for the photographer to work out of it...

Just wondering, except for Challenger ... where else can we get Lowepro flipside bags ? Challenger a little ex ... Flipside 200 @ 160 (members).

you might want to know there's something known as calling up the shop to enquire on the price.

You might be surprised. Lots of bags from lowepro and thinktank that I purchased haven't changed prices for a long time.

Go to Cathay Photo / TK Foto Technic for your bag needs. They have almost everything.

Well, on my recent trip back to Singapore, I've finally cleared my cupboard space of camera bags. I've sold the Fastpack 350, Slingshot 200, 6 Million Dollar Home, 7 Million Dollar Home and gave away some other stuff.... Now I'm only left with the Shootsac and the Lowepro Primus - 2 bags of different style for different purposes and usage.

Both the remaining bags suit me and the way I use them very well, so I'm happy for now, and no longer have a lust for camera bags. Feels good to be like a man again... kekeke :)

Don't sell your bags :P
Each bag serves a different purpose depending on what gear you are bringing out and what sort of outing you are bringing it to.

I like bags, some of my bag-history (specifically camera bags):

Feb 04: Small canon camera bag which I bought with my 300D
Jan 05: Crumpler (Canon edition - promotion of free crumpler bag with lens purchase).
Dec 05: Kata R-103
Nov 06: Crumpler 7mdh
July 08: Domke F-6 and Thinktank Speed racer
Oct 08: Billingham Hadley Large
Dec 08: Lowepro Toploader 70 AW, Lowepro Toploader 75 AW

also some inserts (billingham 9-18 s-flex, domke insert), lens bags (lowepro lens case), pouches (Kata S-312, Kata P-38) etc. which I mix and match with my other bags, again, depending on what gear I'm bringing, what sort of place I'm bringing it to, the shooting condition / style.

I recently gave my first bag to my sister haha...
and just remembered that I sold my 7mdh after a few years because it was so roomy that I would pack it full of gear, then often injure myself carrying it - safety first!

Bags are exciting

and found I have a Tamrac Velocity 5 I bought but have never used... jhaha :D

I thought I would not get another bag, oh boy, I was so wrong!! :embrass:

Just received via vPost - my latest addition - Case logic SLR Sling. Enough to fit my E-3 with 12-60 and the 50-200mm.

http://www.caselogic.com/slr_sling/product_detail/index.cfm?modelid=138051

Hmmmm... The website says it's no longer available... no wonder they were letting go at a 25% discount... guess I got an outdated model for cheap. Never mind lah, I like can already - I think it's the nicest looking sling bag on the market ;)

hey peeps,

need a recommendation for a proper camera bag. sold off my 4 million dollar home sometime back cos it could only fit 1 dslr + 1 lense.

currently i have the following, and wish to fit all in 1 bag (if possible) :

1 x 1000d
3 x hotshoe flashes
3 x receivers for strobing
1 x tamron 17-50
1 x nifty fifty
2 x spare batts / memory cards
1 x 700ML Bottle

don't really fancy sling/messenger bags because the weight is not balanced on both shoulders. would love backpacks [ hopefully fashionable and not those plain black design ] that have separate compartments for different purposes. budget < $300 hopefully. any recommendations?

Just bought a Herringbone Old Pham Large from Seoul... to add on to my collection (*guilty*) of bags:

Billingham Packington
Think Tank Urban Disguise 60
Crumpler 5 Million Dollar Home (Canon Logo)
Nikon Domke F2 Rip-off
