HI,

I am new to camera. Wanting to buy a camera. My fren mentioned OP to me. But here some people mentioned they are selling grey products. How do I differentiate it from the official one? How's the service of the shop?

Many thanks.

Carol

OP is not bad too, otherwise, personaly i would recomend JOHN 3:16 at funan !!
their service is top of the line !!

you ask them whether it is local warranty or shop warranty

they won't lie, that's why i love them

service wise, they are what i call "gruff"

not much smiling, not much flowery language, but they are matter-of-fact, to the point, and don't talk unnecessarily

my favourite type of service. i don't need people to boost my ego by being exceptionally nice to me and make me feel like diva.

hmm true but still the guys at john are nice too !! hahas

To know if the item is grey, just ask them, they'll tell you.

And OP is one shop where if you don't approach the sales people, they usually won't give you any attention at all. But if you go up to them and ask them stuff, they're quite helpful. Some people think they're aloof, but that's 'cos they just walk in a expect to be served.

If i have what i wanna buy in mind, does service still matter? i could imagine i walk into the shop and get the right stuff..as for future serving of my cam, i would send camera to nikon service center?

Suggest you call up a few reputable shops and compare price. Yes you are getting a nikon camera, its better to send to its service center.

I really like this style of service

Cannot say I've had really bad experience with John3.16.. I've bought stuff from John3.16 but I can tell you.. it seems too fake... this guy calling you "bro and all".. but you know what I was really not too happy about with John3.16? Me having to stand there for a long while before being served... when an angmoh who had just walked in, he was served immediately..

Perhaps I don't buy enough from John3.16 - hence the "treatment".. But I get exceptionally good service from MScolor.. That's another shop you can consider.

just went down to OP...

yah service wise, basically nothing much to talk abt, u ask them what they answer what. never smile or say extra... but price wise very good...
enquired abt D90 + 18-200mm Nikkor

Not my favourite;p but I have to agree with you that it is sufficient. You get what you need and they know their stuff.

They sell both grey and local warranty products. You have to ask and they are well verse in Cam.

Why dont' you wait until the new one releases? It's already selling in HK. i am planning to get mine there..

I will go down today to get D90 (body). hope they don't close so early

They're pretty nice when you approach them, and the price is generally appealing.

My fav shop apart from Tk Foto.
They are straight to the point, willing to share with u their shooting experience, impart u photography tips, give u advice on lens performance/setup etc (particulary Stanley and Xiao Guo), Lynn abit quiet..

Got most of my stuff there, including my recent acquisiton of 18-35mm f3.5~4.6 and Wimberly clamp for macro

Friendly, amicable, attentive to ur demands no act bro kind of fake, take the initiative..

When u ask "how does this works with...? is it good?"
They straight away take out that product and say "come lets try and u know" without much hesistance.

Thats the service i m talking about. Which is rarely seen in other reputable shops, esp AP..

My tots
Cheers :)

Wah phiang!!!
I kena the exact same treatment like u did!!! lol :bsmilie:

My experience with OP has been a good one. I showed interest in something and the sales person straight away told me its limitations but wasn't trying to get me to pay for something of higher specs. I wouldn't have asked those tech questions if he had not told me...or perhaps he thought I looked dumb enough ? :) I bought it at the end.
