Ordering M4/3 stuff from Japan

Note that this thread is mainly about ordering/shipping (if you look at the title) from Japan, those who may be able to give advice may not enter this thread to begin with. :)

Looks correct.

You take the 1[Price of item in Yen] + 2[Price of shipping by Tenso] + 3[possible GST] = All in total cost.

To estimate the shipping, Tenso has a calculation tool: http://www.tenso.com/en/guide/fee/index.html
It helps that most items on amazon.jp has the shipping weight listed.

Credit Card fees you won't know until you receive/check your statement. These are not separate fees, but something worked into the exchange rate that they apply (anything between 1.5%-2.5%).

Here's a post from the 35-100 thread for comparison:

Last week was my birthday, and I decided to treat myself to this lens with full blessings from my wife:

Total damage from Amazon.co.jp:
Lens: ¥90,536
Tenso Shipping: ¥1660
Service fee: ¥490

Total: ¥92,686
Around S$1,205 if I use a very loose exchange rate of 0.013.

Hi,

need advise here.

I'm trying to order from Amazon.jp but they can't / don't deliver to SG when i checkout. I read here that Tenso is used, may i know how do i make this work??

thanks.

would like to check, do we need change to international warranty card if purchase OLYMPUS lens direct from store in Japan?

no, but direct store prices aren't usually the best, but if u prefer to shopp there do bring passport for tax rebate. Else, can check out amazon.co.jp & rakuten as well

I've bought quite a few camera's from Amazon Japan.

shipping: Usually through Tenso but I've also used Vpost as well as my company's Tokyo office. Tenso will always ask whether you will let them open your box to insert the (if Lithium) battery into the camera. This is required by Japanese law. They are very reliable and I prefer them to Vpost. i've also ordered through an Amazon seller (not all items are sold by Amazon on Amazon; there are 3rd party sellers who use the Amazon shopfront) that shipped direct to Singapore. They have now stopped this, so you can ship only to a Japanese address. The item through them (EC-Orange) was my ill-fated Panasonic G5 which is a Japanese menu only.

In addition, although many of my Amazon JP purchases have been above S$400, I've never had any issues with GST. It might either be a relaxation of the rules or they disn't bother. Amazon US will ALWAYS add a tax amount upfront when you checkout any cart above S$400.

Price of the double zoom kitted E-M5 is now S$1,040 before shipping.

Bro .... Those are good prices. 9-18 at $600 is something I can only dig out in HK when SG's still doing a $8xx cash.

But r u in a rush ah ? Slowly la. The UWA can come in later since it shouldn't be a very used often lens for most people.

yeah. maybe just use the 12-40 for landscape..should be wide enuff?

think i'll get the 25mm F1.4 & 45mm F1.8. read alot about the 75mm..but not sure i'll use it freq.

12-40's wide enough for general landscapes though I have the 7-14 which I'll keep until the UWA-pro's release.

Note : 'wide enough' is also subjective ;)

The 75/1.8's really bleedingly good but need to get used to shooting at that focal length. It's also a lens I hope to get one day.

Hi, long time lurker here. Will have a trip to Japan jn December and had been thinking if it is better to get m43 stuff there or in Singapore. Anyone can share any insight? Thanks.

Edit: Silly me. Found another thread with this info. Seems like price is slightly better with tax rebate to boot. Cheers.
