Hmm, what parcel dimensions did you use?

An estimate using their calculator for a parcel with these specs: Weight: 500g (Volume 20x20x30cm:2400g) via DHL Express.

Shipping fee: 8238JPY

Package from Amazon. I did not select the repacked option. I didn't expect the Oly 45mm to be shipped in the apparently huge parcel. I was prepared to pay up to 5000 JPY for shipping but not more because that would result in over SGD400 total package price and attract a further 7% GST. But 18800 JPY was shocking !!:o

Note that the EMS price also did not include repack fees. So big parcel shipping cost substantially less with EMS. Email response from DankeDanke took a day. Now waiting for EMS shipping notification.

The quotes you received were actual quotes AFTER your actual package actually arrived at DankeDanke? Well, kiasu packing = safe packing. The box must be pretty huge, with packing air pillows.

Yeah, one of the reasons why EMS rates are attractive cos they don't go by volumetric, only actual weight.

Yap. Maybe repacking it would save some money. But DHL-Japan still incredibly high compared to US- Comgateway/iHerb. I have shipped kilos worth of stuff for no more than $50/=
It would be great if Comgateway starts a Japan branch. I don't think the JPY is going to go up anytime soon...

heh, now you know why most of us choose Tenso instead, and endure the "slow" Speedpost EMS.
Also, via DHL, 99.999% chance that if it exceeds $400, you'll get hit by GST.

bros, anyone has any advice on "worthy" items to buy from Japan? related to photography please! (no av or kinky gadget! ) :-) thanks!

If in stock, quite fast normally they will have an availability date fr the items,

Can't really recall as my browser translation was not very good. A lot of email send in jap...

How about physically buying the items from Tokyo? Any shops to recommend? I tried searching but can't find anything so don't scold me if there's such a thread...

Does anyone have any good experiences buying second hand lenses in Tokyo? I am going next month for 9 days - 2 days on project, the rest pure photography and video for myself. I wanted to buy lens, but good condition second hand preferred
