yes, you will have to pay 7% GST for anything you ship in, regardless if it's a gift, purchase, lucky draw prize, or something dropped from the sky.
i paid GST for stuff my friends sent me...and they declared the actual amount for insurance purposes.
sure, you can declare your $3000 85/1.2 as $380, but if something goes wrong, insurance only covers a portion of the $380 you declared.
and i don't think BH photo will do such things. it is actually illegal and comitting fraud to under-declare items for tax purposes.
bottomline, do what you want, don't get caught. after you get caught, don't post in lopitiam to make noise and whinge.

I would like to share my pleasant experience with online order with B&H.
1. The order is very quickly processed and sent in about 3 days. (Vpost took almost 2 weeks to deliver and also 3 days to reply email)
2. Reply email very quickly.
3. More importantly very reliable. -
I ordered an express card (as part of a number of other items) recently and found that was not working. Wrote to B&H and asked for a refund instead of RMA as I found that it may not be suitable for my use. B&H was very prompt with their reply and immediately got the necessary form and procedure for me to process the refund. This is something that I find lacking in most our local dealers (even those carrying international brands) - they will wash their hands once they sold the goods. I certainly have very much confidence in B&H when ordering online and will recommend members here to their online stores

Well, that is the difference between USA and Singapore in return policy.
In the states, they have a "no question asked" return policy. That means, no matter what is your reason, they will refund the money within the agreed period (normally one month). There is no such thing in SG. Customers in SG have to prove to the store that something is wrong before they will acknowledge the problem and provide 1-for-1 exchange (normally within one week). I have once sit with a technical staff for 1 whole afternoon in order to prove my brand new 1.5TB Seagate Free Agent external hard drive has intermittent write problem.

We do this with credit cards issued by non-USA (mainland-based) banks but only the first time you use a particular credit card with is. It's part of our verification process and deters credit card fraud and identity theft, protecting you. We're obliged ethically and by our merchant banks to try to prevent fraud. If we're lax or if we incur too many chargebacks we're penalized and that's something neither we nor our customers want. This is a completely safe process and we have a secure card upload option for this. We do not want you to send card images via unencripted email. I've been here 15 years and throughout I am not aware of any customer who has complied and later regretted having done so.
