Online pricing or Shops' pricing??

Shops sells way way cheaper than those on Canon's online list.

Forgot to add... check out the Canon sub-forum, there's an existing thread that lists some of the Canon items with the prices based on survey from local shops. The list is updated once in a while.

All around the world there is what's know as "RRP(recommended retail price)", which is what you see on the Canon site, and "street price", which is what you buy at most shops. IIRC Canon gives some leeway for the RRP for shops to remain competitive, thus the price is not fixed. There is however a price floor, which is undisclosed to customers, below which retailers are not supposed to let the prices fall below in the interest of fairness. It probably wouldn't be highly profitable for them to sell it way below the price floor anyway.
