Poor jbma,

Just post some photos and got such harsh comments. *pat pat*

Actually I also find the photos not too focus. Only no. 3 is focus to me. I always have the same problem with dragonflies too. I thought it's focus but when downloaded to PC, it's not. *sighz* :(

Let's try and learn and improve on our skills together lor. Why need to be so harsh right?

Jbma, no worries and dun let that stop you from posting. Ok?

Thanks Icer. We are all still learning mah. So when is the next outing? SBG, JBP, MOG? Anywhere also can.

Hi,

I think you need to use a smaller aperture, at least 1 stop more. DOF is slightly shallow.

Hey bro jbma,

Cheer up man :bsmilie: . Don't let negative comments demoralized your passion in photography. You will always have my support . So keep on shootings and postings coz we are unstoppable ;)

Cheers

Hi brudder..no hard feelings for u! :) Well...along the way we improved thru some good and bad comments, right?

Here are my comments :

1) Need bigger DOF for dragonflies. Usually I use F16..butterflies are flater probably F5.6 and above is sufficient.

2) Your 2nd pic seems noisy is it because u use higher ISO or it is a highly cropped pic? Usually I use bounced flash with shutter speed set above 1/100. ISO at 200 max.

3) Always focus on dragonflies eye and not any other part of the body.

4) Look for greener or uniform background. This is difficult but it really makes a difference with a nice buttery smooth background.

:)

This is definitely "constructive criticism". :)

Keep shooting, jbma.

Hey bro. Now this is the kind of feedback I need. Thank you for your comments. Unfortunately on that day I could not get more than F8. So i totally agree the DOF is too shallow. But I will try and do better next time.

in that case try shooting from a diff angle, a diff style from yourself. :)

Hi Y0ngcheng. Poiint noted. Will try that approach in future.

Hello jmba,
I have not as yet delved into macro...only played.
If I can produce results like yours by the second time I actually get into it, I will be impressed!

Thank you for those kind words Pablo. I'm sure you are capable of better shots than the ones I've achieved if you really put your effort into it. Happy shooting.

Keep shootin bro!!!

Who cares about what other people say, as long as you extract the good things and learn from it and take that into your next shooting it'll be great!

Keep it up! :)

Thanks bro Nickmak. Appreciate your encouragement. Keep shooting.

hi jbma,

When i post my photos on a forum, i have to prepare myself for any comment may come, because in a forum, especially in web, there are so many types of ppl i might find. They will give good comment or bad ones for sure and it is normal, i think, so dont make it too big. Well, I dont usually take it too deep, at least i can see the response of 'the audience' and take some lessons from there. And I believe that my 'taste' may be different from 'the audience', so I wont be surprised if there are some audience that dont like photos that I like the most. I assume all of that as learning process.

For ur photos, some of them is quite blur, maybe the speed too slow or the object is out of the focus range of the lens

Cheers,

Kusuma
