OMG! Look at the EM-1 aka the now official E-M1 Thread

is it ugly?

Could you share with me where did you get the dekitted lens in HK (PM me if it's not convenient to share)? Am popping over next week. Any issues with warranty?

No issues with warranty as Oly honors international warranty. Get a photocopied warranty card since it's from the kit and a original receipt and all's ok.

And your inbox is full haha. I can't send anything

You are too emotional and you may need a shrink otherwise shrinks. :rbounce:

Not bad :) finally I see u posting a statement instead of a question. Welcome to MFT

Any idea about how to remove WIFI logo on screen? Is it "permanently" there?
Just got em1 body today at good price from BnS.
Jokes aside, if you turn off the WiFi in the Menu, the logo would not appear on the display any more. It will always be there if you want the WiFi to be on all the time unfortunately. Can't have it both ways.

No worry. I already get used to it. Thanks for your thoughtful words here.I am much happier with em-1 than using em-5 but I still love both cameras.
By the way, your series of different cats are awesome good!

RRP is USD999.
SG RRP not released :) u can do a quick check on previous B n S prices which to me is all quite overpriced.

If u go by difference between EM1 kit vs EM1 body, yes it's at $1k but I doubt u will find one selling at $1k locally.

I got mine from HK around $1k for a dekitted lens.

Amazon JP's current price is a very good one though I'm not sure how much it will cost u to shop it over and whether GST is applicable. :)

Just checking, how much is the EM1 12-40/f2.8 kit selling in HK currently?

saved about $150 for 2 lens (17 & 45) from Tokyo.

Sorry to sidetrack a little, but does anyone know on the estimated RRP for the 12-40 lens? Judging from the price differential from the EM1 body and EM1 kit, it seems to be at S$1k.

Amazon.jp has stock for the lens, but contemplating whether to bite the bullet...

Pretty sure it will be 1399 - 1499 srp for SG.

Think Amazon US just raised prices for the 12-40 from USD999 to USD1099.

got 2 questions for you pros!

1) Is there an offline program where I can view the following - exif data showing focus distance, shows focus area used (like when info button in camera). Doesn't seem to me that olympus viewer 3 does this nor Irfanview. Flickr's exif reader shows the data is there though it does not illustrate the focus box. In fact flickr displays a tonne more exif data than OV3 and IFV.

2) Isit normal for lossless rotation in IFV to result in ~8% reduction in file size? optimise not checked. Is my filesize supposed to be unchanged if a successful lossless jpeg rotation is carried out?

Can anyone recommend a program that shows all the exif info + focus area & distance and does lossless jpeg rotation? i'm on windows.

thanks

omg..i felt so stupid. I thought the app can read the raw file...no wonder it doesn't show me anything as i only shoot in RAW. if they could just set the apps readable to RAW and convert to jpeg for import.

hmm. i tried on 2 different android device. i cannot access to existing photos.

just check the comment from others in https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.olympusimaging.oishare... seems like i'm not the only one encounter this issue.

Saw the official RRP for body only, kit, lens only..

EM-1 Kit - Same as preorder(Less freebies)
EM-1 Body - Same as above
12-40 F/2.8 Pro - $1388

Street price should be lower most of the time..

1388 for rrp is a good price . 3 months later with good stock, it should sell for 1100

His is definitely a lemon or it was damaged in another way. I just dropped mine in a thin bag 1.2m on tarmac. Nothing happened.

eh.. it'd be kinda unfair logically or statically to judge by a n=1 example. U see 1 Ferrari getting banged up in an accident and u declare the whole line unsafe? Or I drop my camera it shatters and i expect a refund?

It being a drop could've meant so many varying factors. The guy mentioned that he 'knocked' his camera bag off his couch. Ahem... It could have landed on the exact worst possible place, it could have been a faulty unit to begin with or ..., who knows.

I placed mine in my billingham, dropped it on the thin Ikea carpet as shown from 1 foot = 30cm. And... i think my parquet floor is hurt. Didn't mount a camera so i kept the caps on.

and i did this cause i've enough faith, not because i've too much money ;)

anyway, lets see how Oly replies to the guy's request. Will be good to know that at least.

Ouch.... It would be very painful seeing 12-40mm being damaged. It took my breath and missed a heartbeat of mine upon seeing that pix.
By the way, I wish to say thanks to Keithwee and microcosm for recommending 12-40mm and I really enjoyed snapping with my new lens after selling off Panny 12-35mm.
The feeling of playing with 12-40mm is shiok good and I liked the manual ring to do the magnify to adjust the clear focus on subject before feeling satisfied to start snapping.. 12-35mm does not have that feature.
To be exxxxxxxxtra safe, I have to exercise cautious about holding or putting the lens on surface table or something. I do not want to see my 12-40mm to go "haywire" on floor and end up shouting lengthy string of expletives...

welcome. but yup, its just exercising care with our equipment. Glad u r enjoying the 12-40/2.8. So far my experience with MFT equipment has been that they're really quite tough.

My wife had accidentally (i hope haha) dropped my 45/1.8 once from the table onto the porcelain floor and it turned out not even scratched and all ok when i brought it back to Oly for checking.
