OM , OM1 , OM2 , OM2N , OM3 , OM4 photo-sharing and possible meetups

For everyone of my individual lens I need to understand how its aperture will affect my different metering modes thru many trial and error shots. This is a major disadvantage using non-Canon mount lenses. To me is like shooting film in the good old days. When I decide to shoot at a specific aperture, using center spot or partial metering, I will test the metering at different tones/colors/shades and highlight of my subject/s and dial in the compensation, take a couple of shorts and choose the best. Evaluative metering will be less accurate and I will use it only for general landscapes. For this reason and also owing to age and degradation of my poor eyesight, I have decided to move to Pentax. I will be selling off my entire collection of OM lenses plus my 5D.

Not sure whether this is the correct place to post...but I've just gotten myself an OM2S and some lenses. The camera is so tiny.. but feels solid. I used mainly Nikons, and this is like the FG in size. Still trying to learn the intricacies. :heart:

Just keep the photos coming, who knows I may be back again. My whole system was sold to a nice gentleman today, lock, stock and barrel.

My om1 seems abit 'hazy' in viewfinder,i dont know how to say,it is just nt crystal clear...dont know why..
If using iso 3200 film in om1,what will happen?only the metering cant measure?

Converters... tough one. If you really want a converter for the correct size AND for the step down voltage of today's available batteries, see here, the MR9. http://www.criscam.com/mercury_battery_adapters.php

You can also try the Wein cell batteries, which is advertised to work. I have not used them personally though. http://www.weincell.com

Alternative, several home-made versions have been circulating around the internet.

As for cheap or not cheap.... I cannot comment. heh Hope it helps.

Nice camera you have. Did you get the manual together with your purchase? If not, google for it. I myself love the size of the OMs too.

IIRC, metering is done TTL, through the lens, so i think a hazy VF would not affect your metering but probably impede your vision. You could try to find a busted camera for parts and switch its clean prism with the hazy one.

It could be that your prism is affected by the deteoriating seals that have melted over the years, thus the hazy VF.

try Unicell, 2nd floor of Sim lim square..they shld have the battery to suit the om1.

thanks ya...but i search through the net,the so-called hazy might be the matte area. The focusing screen is differ with modern dslr,i just cant used to it

Thanks for your encouragement ! I'm new to film photography, just start using the OM1 since Sept last year.

Have one question (but not so related to OM system): I send film to the lab for developing and scanning, but usually I found the scan (16-base), when viewing large, looks not as sharp as digital JPGs on my computer screen. What's about your experience? Do you guys have a scanner at home?

I'm using the hearing aid batteries Energizer 1.4V 675 zinc-air. Bought at Guardian last time. It is smaller than the OM1 battery slot but works.

Nice pictures, love the tone. keep em coming! Maybe to make the thread more informative, we can include the camera, lens used, or aperture information..settings.....to make it more interesting and informative. Just a thought.
