I noticed all your shots vignette quite badly. Are these post processed or off camera vignetting?

Anthony, how do you like this 50/3.5 macro? I just received my copy and found that I have to get very close to get 1:2 magnification. In fact, it seems more useful as a close focusing lens than a macro lens. The dilemma is as a close focusing lens, the bokeh is probably more diffuse than a 50/1.4. So would also like to find out which, out of the 2 50mm, you would bring out more often and why.

I think just post whatever you want to show or discuss with regards to OM. It is too rigid to kill off any discussion prematurely. Big ideas comes from small ones.

awesome...thanks

My feelings were exactly like yours when I first bought into OM lenses thinking that I could use them with either 4/3 or m4/3 systems. I bought my collection from a former collector who owned both the OM system and the 4/3 system and he also prefered to use 4/3 glasses on his E3 instead of his collection of Om lenses. These links you provided are actually quite old information when the range of 4/3 and m4/3 lenses were not so complete. Most current 4/3 and m4/3 users that I discuss with prefer using the current 4/3 and m4/3 lenses as they perform better than the OM lenses. Try asking in the 4/3 forum here. They will tell you that it's not that the OM lenses cannot be used but they prefer to use the current range of lenses. Unlike Pentax and nikon, OM lenses require an adapter to be used on 4/3 and one has to use stop down metering which to most 4/3 users is just too cumbersome.

The lens was not design for sensor capture. You need a more par light project to your micro lens. Or the corner will have light lost.

speaking of light fall off, I need to share this. No cropping done. You can see there is very minimal vignetting. If you need an affordable wide angle, architecture lens. I suspect that this could be the one. Grab it if you can. I am off to shoot more photos...bye.

Wow, where is this place? So you are not home. When will you be back? This lens has fantastic reputation and so far you are the first local to put up something I truely appreciate. 21 on the 5D2 is pretty wide and yet distortion free. And for such an old lens, it handles the 21MP sensor pretty well unlike most of the modern lenses. Hope I can see you when you are back. More.

Hmmm... this thread is getting longer hahaha...

Oh MWP, how did u shoot that pic??????

After getting poisoned by you. I am here to spread some BBB virus as well. I am starting to agree these OM lenses may not be the best on 4/3 and m4/3 as it is a waste to use them on a focal length they are not designed for. So I am sticking them on my FF. Will get in touch with you when back in Sin. Will like to try out your Pentaxes :)

err...not too sure which aspect you want to know... I put on a harness, suspend myself on a hovering helicoptor. Since OM lenses does not comes with IS, I took a long time to stabilize myself till the sun starts to set before finally pressing the shutter button. :)

The thread is getting longer as there are still quite a fair bit to squeeze out of these OM lenses. Need to shoot more. Will post if there are any interesting photo that can showcase the strength of a particular lens.

Welcome home. Nice shots. Shoot more and post here please.

i'm dying to get my hands on a set. there's something about the DOF that i like seeing coming outta these babies. apart from that, i'd say mannnnn you just cannot deny how awesome FILM is. i need to convert soon.

It's not just DoF, the bokeh can be equally astonishing.

Finally developed and scanned a roll of 35mm shot with the OM Zuiko 28mm F2 on the OM-1.

Here's one at night, at F2:

I read that the lens has CRC to allow for sharper images even at close up distances.
Another of my sulking dog also at F2:

Your film shots are always fantastic. This is another legendary lens.

This lens does not exist in the real world. It only exist in the virtual world, and even so usually very short live. I am very lucky to find this one as the exterior condition is probably not the best, and hence probably no one wants to take it home.

It is just gears, no need to be envious. I am envy of you for your knowledge, life experiences and enjoying retirement. I have to slog till 68 provided the retirement age is not raised further by that time. Will post a photo of the lens later.

More photos from this lens. Since you are also a fishing enthusiast, you might relate to these 2 guys. These 2 men fishing are very interesting. They are both fishing with poles, each with a small float and a small hook. Both using only breads as bait. Both cast their lines a couple of meters apart from each other. The one on the left (man in white) caught more than 5 fishes while the other guy caught nothing. Life is so unfair. Same tools, same effort, same place, same time but different rewards :)

CZJ as in Carl Zeiss Jena? Very nice capture of human emotions and subjects in motion. I always like photos that captures these 2 but always find it lacking in my shots.

I guess I am not fated to the 28mm. I used to have this lens but didn't like it. Only to understand later that it might be an earlier version of inferior multi-coating. Then I bought the 28/3.5 and it is lost in shipment. So I can only enjoy it from the photos you post.

The ability to handhold it at night must be very useful and very cute expression from your dog.
