actually i have a 350d with fatique as he is doing IR conversion for me . he was saying that i should be able to find it at bicycle shop . but the bicycle shops around my place don't have such small ball bearings yea .. that size is quite difficult to get . thank you both

BTW, my tagotech adapters allow me to focus beyond infinity. Do any of you know of any adapters that are dead accurate and stop at infinity sharp. Does anyone use Kindai adapter before. Aer they accurate in that sense? I don't mind paying more for one adapter and just stick it on to the camera permanently.

And do you guys put a filter on these tiny little gems? I cannot imagine having to put a B+W UV filter on such affordable lenses. Are there cheap and good 49mm filters?

For filters, you can try the original Olympus filters, or basically any decent multi coated 49mm filters will do. My recommendation for a filter that would be good enough would be the Hoya HMC filters. But they can be a headache to clean.

Another way is to use a hood on em, and just cap the lens when not in use.

The metal ball bearings are easy to find. But to get the right size may be difficult. Try bicycle repair shops, any hardware shops, sungei road to see if can savage from old junks, sim lim tower or drop by one of the camera repair shops.

hey, i ve lots a couple of these before, one way is to head down to theives market and see if u can pick up some trash lenses. the ball bearing is where the aperture clicks. just not that nikkor lenses dun have this ball bealing. you could try sigma lenses, or maybe even an OM one, which would be yr best bet.

Looks like I didn't make a wrong choice of choosing 28 f2 after all... The vapour is in between the lens elements, i don't know whether it's good to put it under the sun, as u know the sunrays are quite poisonous hahaha... perhaps i should try.

hi, i get this problem with some of my older lenses, could be 2 things, either v thin layer of dust or marks from condensation, or breakdown of the coating.

if its from overseas(japan, you say?) its likely the first. you ll just need to get to the affected element and give it a wipe. sunning it wont help. infact, DONT sun it. because the lubricants in the helicoid might actually vapourise and condense on the elements and that might demage the coating.

if it is coating that has broken down... then its not good at all... brasso will polish it off, but the lens will never be as good as it should be.. i ve never used this method before, but ppl tell me it works...

Tried a Tagotech adapter on my OM 200f4 yesterday and worked perfectly but did not use it a infinity as I usually don't trust the focus confirmation at infinity, prefer to do hyperfocal focusing instead with my 24f2.8 and 35f2, and most other lenses, seldom use at infinity.

If the adapter allows for focusing beyond infinity, wouldn't that makes the hyperfocal focusing also inaccurate, thought it probably does not matters for the infinity end. How about the near end, wouldn't say a 1m becomes 1.5m for example?

I did post one earlier but it was from a distance shot wide open. Will get down to Chinatown one morning to shoot those 'ah Peks' playing chinese chess and put it up soon. Actually you should try the OM 135f2.8 as it's a better FL for portraits. I have a Pentax K 135f2.5 which is excellent, otherwise I would have bought our friend's OM 135f2.8 which has a late version s/no.

thank you all for your help . i think i'll try order from the website MWP intro . ohyea , anyone ever tried toyo optics om mount lens ? i've got one which came from a friend with a old camera he gave me . never tested it out until i posted it up for sale recently . i must say it doesnt lose out to the om 135mm f2.8 . cant really find much information about the lens on the web about it.

All my Tagotech adapters work perfectly well at near focusing to about 20-25 ft which I will normally use up to and I never notice any inaccuracy in the focus confirmation. The 2nd photo posted above was shot at about that 20-25feet distance and the focus confirmation was spot on. The 1st photo was shot almost at infinity on the 200f4 and the focus confirmation was also very accurate. I did return some adapters because they did not mount properly on my 5D. The one I use on my 35-70f3.6 seems to be very accurate also and I have very few oof photos when used at various focal length. I use one without focus confirmation with my 24f2.8 as I use this lens on my 5D more like a PnS. I have 4 of them and you may want to try them out.

Yes, they are alright on 5D2. I guess I am just being particular about infinity not stopping exactly where it should. I have used this Tagotech in other mounts - L/R, AIS and M42. They are by far the most consistent ones. I may just order one Kindai to try out.

Now to get me a 5DMkII - I would get a Mk1 if I knew what to look out for but I'm new to canon...
