OM , OM1 , OM2 , OM2N , OM3 , OM4 photo-sharing and possible meetups

Welcome to the wonderful world of OM. I see you have the OM 85f3.5 which I have not heard of. I also have the OM2SP and love it. The OM24f2.8 is a dynamite and it's in my bag all the time. Lately, I picked up the OM 35-70f3.6 and it's now stuck to my Canon 5D. It's simply a fabulous all-purpose lens and renders very neutral color and extremely sharp end to end and corner to corner. Attached photo is snapshot on National Day, f11, 1/320, ISO 100.

Beautiful shot. Which OM lens using for this shot.

Hi, the OM 35-70f3.6 zoom at 35mm. Incredible lens on both my OM-2SP and Canon 5D. It's about 400gms, small with 55mm filter thread and virtually sharp from f3.6 throughout the focal length. Shooting landscape on SLR film or FF DSLR is wonderfully refreshing as I don't need to be weighed down by huge big fat AF lens.

Beautiful shot. Which OM lens using for this shot.

The thread title refers to different Olympus film SLRS and not lenses. For a list of all OM lenses, refer to the attached links. To use OM lenses on Canon DSLRs you need OM to EOS adapters and these can be purchased from Tagotech online.

These are really value for money lenses. Hope you got the correct versions this time. I love the 50f3.5 macro and on FF, you can use this fantastically sharp lens to do panning landscape and stitch them later. Mine came with a OM 25X extention tube that can be used on all my lenses and turning all of them to very very close focus macro lenses. Enjoy.

Yes, small, good value and practical. Good for when I am the one shooting. But when I am travelling, I will still bring the larger and heavier AF lenses cos I want others to know how to use my camera to include me in the photos. Irony. :)

I have wanted to amass the 3 specialty f3.5 lenses - 16mm Fisheye, 24mm Shift and 50mm macro. But I am amazed at the price of the 24mm Shift. What is so special about this lens to warrant that kind of price? It is in the price range of the TS-E 24mm MkII or more. So I settled for the 28/3.5 at 1/40th the price of the 24mm Shift.

I have heard and read that the 24mm shift is extremely good and has a cult following and it's also rare, just like the 90mmf2 macro, the 35-80f2.8 zoom and many others. Some of these later versions were mainly produced in the 90s and are very well corrected and the multi-coating suit today's DSLR well. I have 6 primes and 1 zoom and I will not part with them. Waiting for the new 60D to be released so that I can have a lighter and more advanced DSLR and these OM jewels will really shine.

I have the OM 50f1.4 with s/no greater than 1.1 mil and with this lens, I sold my ZE 50f1.4 and my CY 50f1.7.

Tami, my cat shot wide open on my 5D.

swee.... how much for one??...

The OM 50mmf1.4 has many versions. Go to the links I provided and you should be able to have a clear understanding of which version to buy. Most of such lenses were produced for film SLRs and as such, the earlier versions are better for films. I chose the latest version, with serial number greater than 1.1million as it has multi-coatings that are better to control flares and are more suitable for DSLR. Lens rendition can sometimes be very subjective, so you may need to try a few to choose one to your liking. My current copy is my 3rd. Prices will also vary from S$ 200 to 350 according to version and condition. Hope this helps.

Welcome. You can contact CS member 'fatique' to help you service the OM-1n. It's the best mechanical film SLR. You can also pick up some good value OM lenses to play with. Enjoy.

I love my OM2n. now i have collection of lenses, 28mm f/2, 50mm f/1.4.

But there is an option for me to upgrade to OM4. Should I go for it?

thinking of buying 85mm f/2 or 100mm f/2.8 too. never try focal length > 50mm before.

Your OM2n is good enough, and if you want to upgrade suggest you go either OM-3Ti or 4Ti.
Both 85/2 and 100f2.8 are supperb portrait lenses. 85/2 is twice as expensive as 100f2.8.

Yeah, the 85 f2 lenses are highly sought after... I have seen bids go up to 600 plus sing dollars on eBay. lol.
