OM , OM1 , OM2 , OM2N , OM3 , OM4 photo-sharing and possible meetups

maybe it'll be better if you have an apple-to-apple comparison?
2 cameras, 1 with zeiss and 1 with OM, same film, same setting, same subject/location/time.
only then can we have a practical contrast comparison.

Just happen to chance on this. I have since sold all my OM lenses but may pick up one again if there is an OM 50f1.2 or maybe a 90f2 macro. OM lens still makes my heart miss a beat whenever I pick up one. You are looking for 21 f2 or 3.5. After one full year I have given up hope of seeing one, especially the MC version. The 24f2.8 MC version is also hard to come by. You have to go online like Keh.com. Good luck to your search.

Yes, even me the "thread-starter" don't feel like posting any more.... its just obvious that something is so wrong.

Look around, there are still places to share your love for OM series with joy.

If you can't find, just PM me. :) ...lets move on.

Cheers.

Thanks...

Hi eooojj
Please keep posting, if possible I wanna see some info about the OM-T (titanium I guess ?) version...

I got addicted to these older manual camera in general (I like all brand so far), right now Im into older manual Minolta and Pentax, but like some Nikons or Oly too...

Thanks

Take heart guys. I recently bought an OM1 with 35/f2.

And I must say its a beautiful lens. Tonality very similar to leica, beautiful bokeh. Minimum focus distance of 0.3m.

Definately to keep forever.
A pity its bloody heavy.

Congrats on your 35 f/2.0. excellent lens! i got it converted to Nikon F mount and use it on my d200. very nice colour rendition. contrasty yet natural and smooth =)

I started off my photographic hobby with the OM-series of cameras and lenses, attracted first by the compactness of design and then by the quality of the system. That was yonder years of films and slides. I used to own the 50 f1.2 and the 40mm 'pancake' lenses. Now, I think this is more idiomatic than technical, but I found the f1.2 a very unique lens, with a 'lightness' of colours and 'smoothness' of contrast, in the image-reproduction - like a water-colour painting than an oil-based one. Also intriguing was the glass elements in the f1.2 lens containing some 'bubbles' ,which I later learned, was a sign of a highly purified glass material, and therefore a desired feature in good optic. I don't know enough to affirm this but anyone would like to throw some light on this?

Not sure bro, but from looking at pictures o flickr, the 50/1.2 is one hell of a lens! Damn nice.

I love to lay my hands on this one for sure. The 18F3.5, 21F2 or 3.5 MC versions are also hard to come by. Tried 2 variations of the 24F2.8 and not totally happy with them though the MC version is very well corrected for distortion. While I wait for the ZE Distagon 21F2.8, I still may have time to try out one of these. The search goes on and it's fun.

Thanks.

My experience with the 40mm was rather disappointing. I used it on the OM2n or OM2s but found most images overexposed! I sold it very soon after I bought it. It used to cost less than $400/= then. Now it is a much sought-after lens - more for its rarity than quality? I don't know. But looking back, it could be that my camera needed some calibration. But it was alright with the 50mm. Anyone had had similar experiences with the 40mm?

i saw a sample picture coming from the 55mm f1.2 that looks really great..
was wondering quality wise how is it comparing to the 50mm f1.2?
and anyone knows where is a good place to get them?

Some years back, I used to see a few used copies of the 55mm f1.2 sold at the familiar local shops. This was a good alternative to the 50mm version and a lot cheaper. All had been snapped up, I think. The 55mm was the older version and I am not sure these oldies would have fogged by now. Do Om lenses fogged more easily than the leicas and Nikons? I tend to think so. Any opinions?

Hi Xu Yeshiong,

I have been searching for a OM 4 Ti for a long time. Did you buy yours overseas? Will appreciate if you can post a photo of both the cam and lens here for all of us to enjoy. Thank you.

Hi,

Will like to post some of the picture. New to this and do not know how. If you can advise, I can post some of the picture that I took with my dslr.
