Please post non-technically related images and discussions in the respective photo galleries provided.

Thank you!

Dear moderator Clown,
Could you please elaborate clearly?
I thought this thread is giving us (owners of OM / Zuiko) a great time to interact about and around our equipments.
Isn't this thread Forums>Equipment discussions>Olympus ???
Unless you are saying Forums>Equipment discussions>Technical>Olympus??
But its not right?
Anyway, even if so i believe there should be a few post here and there for us to enjoy this thread interaction.
Confused.
Ed

Thank you!

I was not aware that my Olympus OM1 and Zuiko lens isn't related to the Olympus Equipment Discussion threads.. please enlighten me.

I think I understand the moderator. To qualify all photos must be accompanied with some form of technical information like f stop, speed, ISO, film used, scanning process, PP work, ect.. If I am correct, then I think the moderator is refering to only the last photo posted.

Anthony,
I don't think the moderator meant that.
The last photo contains "1st test roll/OM2/Zuiko 50mm f1.8".
I think him meant don't chat or post things that has nothing to do with technical stuff.
Means no casual talk, jokes, friendly discussions about non-technical love for our equipment.
If so, i find this forum moderation is missing the part purpose of why we came here in the first place.... to find friends that we can enjoy our passion with..even if technical with a little "non-technical" interactions.
Confused +sadden,
Ed

Hi guys, this is just to clarify things here a bit.
The equipment forum is meant for discussions on the technical aspects of the equipment and relavent issues, for example talking about certain characteristics of a particular lens or sensor, etc..
There is, of course, a certain amount of leeway for OT and the occasional chitchat.
Up till a few months ago, Photo threads in the equipment sections has been in a somewhat grey area because there are some things that can only be discussed with the aid of relevant pictures - which was how the 'sample pictures from xxx camera' threads come about.

But recently, these brand/equipment biased photothreads got to the point where i see all sorts of rojak everyday walkabout snapshots and real technical discussions deteorated to the point where folks are treat it like their personal kopitiam.

Thus we arrived at a concensus to curb this abuse and direct photopostings back to the galleries provided.

We know threads like these are good for bonding that's why we still allowed them to operate within certain limits.

Please, if you aim to keep this thread going, do post in the various relevant photo galleries then place the link here. more detailed writeup regarding the images posted are greatly encouraged.

We're aiming for self-moderation of the forums by its members and would only step in when things get out of hand.

Cheers~

How were we "out-of-hand"????
You meant my 1post @ Post#81 out of the 80posts - where i said "They all love Zuiko"?
If so, i think this is grossly-over-moderated.

please do not over-react to this.

I did not state that this is 'out of hand' yet and i have not started to do moderation here.

your starting post was brilliantly written and i hope more members follow your example.

I merely posted a reminder and afterwhich, did a clarification.

I believe you guys are sensible enough not to misunderstand this issue so if there're anymore questions, please do ask away in a well mannered fashion.

Thank you

I started this thread without knowing that it has to be this technical-serious mood.

Well, every forum has its own rules i guess
I wonder how other "kopitiam" thread feels about this

.... next chapter of this thread has begun
.... its gonna be a serious-no-nonsense thread for now

it appears that you did not read my statements properly and misunderstood it for some draconian law.

please stop being oversensitive and crass just because i'm putting a small reminder in a thread you started.

Please, for goodness sake, my attachment to a thread i started is not so dear for me to be overly-sensitive over your "reminder".
This is your forum, this thread is under your forum ...what can i say?
Was it your unclear statements or my reading of your statements?
Let the rest be the judge.

Have i deleted anything? no.
so why the jumpiness?

patience my friend. the reminder is to prevent future abuse of your precious thread.

Dear Moderator Clown,

No, You don't need to delete any photo/s to disrupt a thread.

I want to believe you volunteered to be a CS moderator without any direct benefits for the effort you are putting in.
For this, i believe you did not intentionally plan to disrupt any thread and i thank you for your contribution to this wonderful forum.

I believe forum is liken to a social sphere where we gather voluntarily to enjoy our hobbies (in this case)....and i hope to be able to continue to do that happily...

Let me help you understand where this episode has gone wrong and my suggestion to you in being a good moderator is as follows:

1) Post #87 before you post #82 then you will not cause confusion among thread readers who responded as seen from post #83 to #86.

2) Use more polite punctuation than the "!" in post #82. Especially when its your first post.

3) Post #82 is perceived by you as a "reminder" but many will read it as a "stepping in" action you are talking about in post #87. Aren't you stepping in to remind us? Hence my reply in post #88. So to prevent misunderstanding, again, do post #87 before you post #82.

4) I wanted to end and start "afresh" or a "new chapter" of this thread in post #90 but apparently your sarcasm-tainted post #91 did not want to end this episode. This again could have been more professionally posted.

I hope you can see how easily the misunderstanding developed.

Again, i want to believe that you volunteered to be a moderator... so thank you for the effort.... lets enjoy this forum/thread again.

Thank you,
Ed

Hi eooojj,

Let the matter rests. I came from very regulated forums that do not allow photo posting except posting a link to their galleries that are on separate data bases. Therefore I understand the moderator and let's be very careful when we post a photo here. These images are allowed to support an explanation only and not for other purposes.

Cheers.

Hi Anthony,

I had tried to let it rest at post #90 and definately with this current post.
Rest assured that my next post will be images and will have nothing to do with this episode regardless of whatever responses of this episode from now on.
Gee, we are here to enjoy our hobby afterall. Thanks.

Cheers,
Ed

Thanks Anthony.

I was not trying to stifle the bonding between enthusiasts but it's more of trying to keep the sharing spirit stronger in the forum as a whole and not limit your wonderful pictures to just a certain small clique inside the equipment subforum.
We encourage interactions between members like this but we also have to set boundaries to keep the forum running smoothly.

Hope you guys understand.

nevertheless, please continue posting your pictures (in respective galleries and linked here) and discussions. =)

Mr Clown, it's my pleasure to assist. I love this forum for its liveliness and fun, yet very well moderated. So thanks to you guys making this such a wonderful place to be in. I am also a fishing enthusiast and frequent a US site that does not even allow "nicks". All registration must be in full name. That's another way of moderation but I actually prefer our local Singapore style, free, easy and yet very well behaved. Hope it stays this way.

Cheers.

Let's not stop posting. Waiting to see more photos of OM lenses on film because I am still testing whether OM lenses can bring out the 3D pop up effect that most Zeiss lenses can.

Here are 2 shots of my grandson recently, both shot with the OM 50 f1.4 at f2. Still can't get that pop feeling and will try again.
