Olympus to launch a OM type camera in Feb

I wonder if its a good time to replace my trusty EPL1. Was a bit concerned with the sensors because I read from 43rmour website (I think) that it is using GX1 sensor? I am not willing to give up Olympus Truepic sensor because I simply love the color richness too much.

Well you can keep the EPL1 as well as buy a new OM as the EPL1 resale price is really low, no point selling, imo :)

I just want what i have from E-PL2 (SIZE-or less of it, IBIS, IBIS, IBIS) plus EVF, less shutter lag and a little bit more resolution... now where can I find such a camera... oh wait....

Indeed... EPL1 resale is too low. Damn... I just got poisoned... Well, I will have to see the exact specs, if it is really not using TruePic processor anymore, then no thanks... haha

Olympus has been using panasonic supplied sensors all along for the EP series. the color richness is thru image processing engine/chip and not the sensor.

noob qn, will the image processing engine/chip affect the raw files also?

Bro still is truepic but newer VI engine with high dynamic range.. Sensor is gx1, processing by oly. Ye keep epl1, I'm certainly keeping mine;)

I just realized that, thanks for pointing out... In that case... I am poisoned then...

Got mixed up... Bring it on oly! I want your new cam

Have to see whether the grip is big enough first, and how well it handles with a heavy lens attached.

From preliminary reviews of the GX1, it seems that the DR is about the same as the G3, but there is less noise in the shadows.

We'll know more next week that's for sure. I bet you that we'll get the full specs out before the 8th. I just hope Olympus has the camera out to the usual websites for testing before hand so they can show the capabilities of the camera.

According to some, it seems the raw files out of the GX1 have a fair bit of dynamic range. So I suppose Olympus' better processing might be able to extract more mileage out of the sensor.
