Olympus promotion and best offer

Just to share on Daiso experience for my friend. Ordered the EM1 package with 1240 and HLD6 last year, coincidentally his package was lost. As Daiso only declare the package as S$250, well you can guess what happens after that.

If you look at the reviews, nobody mentioned GST, which means Daiso under declare on the shipment and items above $400 on Qoo10 are subjected to GST, putting every possible shipment at risk. If you monitor Daiso over the last few months, he's quite quiet until recently and again the Olympus promo pops up.

To anybody who is buying, be prepared for a GST letter/payable on delivery, or cross fingers and hope shipment arrive safely if the seller continues his risky practice.

I would rather import myself then... What's the point of going through another middle man.

Thanks for being kind enough to share. It's been a while since I have tried to gently warn the friends here about the risks but nothing beats a sharing from a true experience.

That said , I'm sorry to hear of the bad experience U went through.

A bro says this : if u wan cheap and good and fast - it's never going to happen.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience.

Yes as Keith says, there is risk.

But I bought the EM1 through them and fortunately mine was delivered without problem. But I "mitigate" the risk by choosing to pay by instalment. If the parcel didn't come, I will just instruct the Bank to cancel the instalment but I am not sure if the Bank credit card will entertained this request ?

Installment means the shop / vendor receives the full sum and the bank pays for one first , following which the bank charges the user fees for repayment back to the bank.

As such, probably not :) unless u can prove that criminal act was involved then the bank will work towards recovering the monies paid out to the shop. Of course I'm speaking in general terms here.

Actually for credit cards the banks have some form of insurance, so even without installment method, it is possible to claim back in situations of non delivery. Can raise a dispute with the bank. :)

If I was the one losing the money I think I would have flown to Korea and have a coffee chat with the seller, but pity my friend although it was my recommendation that he bought it.

Aww well qxpress did show him the shipping manifest and the declared value by Daiso. Oh yea it was lost in transit at KR iirc.

But his promo items are really cheap, and some of the items like Samsung accessories I bought did arrive safely :)

Seller shouldn't be under declaring... He is putting the buyer at risk. If factor in the 7% GST, ie additional $112, actually the savings is not that much.

Just pop by Harvey Norman Funan and ask for "best" price... Credit cards accepted and occasionally their price is actually lower than all the other cash options... yes... surprise :)

Agree. They can match in most cases.

Can PM me which NH branch ? And who to see ? Bcos only selected few are authorised to match the price ...

I used to be able to get cheaper because I know the branch manager (better not reveal which branch here - anyway that guy resigned liao) who are authorised to reduce the price ...

Thanks
