Hmm why can't they put in 2 hotshoe? there's a lot of space on top of the camera.
Having these problem with the rangefinder camera. It's the viewfinder or flash!! damn!
Though micro 4/3 can replace the rangefinder body, but still got this prob.
1 - for the optional EVF viewfinder (if available)
2 - for the external flash (since it does not have internal flash)
or maybe they could come out with accessories like dual hotshoe adaptor with all the connector.

Sorry folks, I think it's an ugly design. It also seems very unergonomically designed. There is nowhere to have the right hand. IMO the LCD should be more to the right.

No, it's definitely not for me.

I just hope they can improve it abit.. but i can live with it.. must start to save money now..

I am still not very convinced... looks like my decision is leaned towards a LX-3 instead. All the range that I need for street shooting and a back up camera with hotshoe to attach a FL-36R.

It looks like a generic point-and-shoot from the back, don't you think? I think it's styled around the ability to protect itself in a pocket or purse, not how handy it is to hold. After all, with the 14-140, you can hold it by the lens and just look at the LCD.

guys, it is still just a mock-up, not even a prototype... the actual camera will probably look very different from how it looks now... and buttons, (pop-up) flash if any, EVF if any, all these things are prob not set in stone yet... in any case, I guess they can have the current retro look for people who like it, and then have the same innards but different body styling for others ;)

hope they can still cramp IS into that tiny body! :sweatsm:
not forgetting SSWF!

It will be very interesting to see how everyone reacts to this new camera system.

I am very excited. It has a hotshoe, juz no internal flash and no optical viewfinder. I guess there are compromises to be made when it goes micro. But hell...I am excited. I am glad that Olympus remains so progressive and innovative.

Ahh....so Micro 4/3 does maintain telecentricity. I thought it doesn't. That's more like it!

thats good! now what about AF support for 4/3 lens?

I doubt this is possible... The lenses are unable to keep up with the contrast detect AF. Unless there is another mode whereby there is slower AF? :dunno:

Those four-thirds lenses that support face detection and contrast detection auto focus work just fine. Of course, those would be 2 Zuiko and a few more Panasonic/Leica lenses.

I think Olympus/Panasonic may be right when they talk about the potential of compact upgraders.

I have shown these images to three friends (all ladies). All regularly take photos using their compacts and always complain about the image quality. They know the results they can get from a DSLR but are turned off by the percieved complexity and bulk.

I showed these images and explained the m43 conecept to all three. All three said if the image quality was that of an DSLR they would buy it. They are all professionals so price is not a problem for them. They loved it and asked about colour options and cases not the ergonomics or hotshoes etc.

I don't think you and I are the only testosterone fueled macho men flirting with this sweet little number. I am sure there are plenty more of us :)

yup i knew that there are just some lenses that can do Contrast detection AF and therefore can AF on m4/3.

Seems that there are some limitations as the other non supported use phase detection only and thus cannot do AF on the m4/3.

Well, on 2nd thought, if the camera design/spces appeals to the mass, it will still sell irregardless of AF support. and the % market share of DSLR is still very small.

Can this M43 mount take the usual 4/3 DSLR lenses or is it totally something unique?

With an adapter. AF only works with certain lenses.
