Olympus E3 $999 only

Bro Wonglp trying to poison me hehehe I am trying hard not to look at the E3 review and specs hehehe

Yep using 14-54 sadly only MK1 so night or low lught the AF struggles a lot... my 40-150mm MK2 perform slightly better in low light ofcus due to CDAF anyways... saw E30 and I find it big and heavy (with the batter grip) what more is the E3 :) and yep I like the swivel LCD of E620 so far it is performing well on me no regrets I am just missing a good prime lens and I'll be a happy man

i don't feel a diff in performance of 14-54 mk1/2, i use to own both briefly. mk2 is faster if u use imager AF/CDAF (live view) i bought mk2 coz of cdaf faster with ep1 then, mk1 was hopeless in that aspect, but it served me well when using dslr. i would say low light Af is always a issue for oly dslr without af assist (red beam). for primes, 50mmf2 is a bad poison:devil:...if u find too expensive, try manual lens, OM 50mms f1/8/1.4 are good lens too.

Hi Bro I have the OM 50mm f1.8 and loving it just that i wanted a little bit wider e.g. may line panny 20mm or 24mm (I used to own 25mm f2.8).... kinda regret I've sld it hahaha anyways moving on...

Anyone bought the E3 at 999???

The 50/f2 doesn't focus much faster than the 14-54. In fact the 14-54 actually focuses faster most times. The 50/f2 also can't use the e620 CDAF.

Between the 25/f2.8 and the 14-54/f2.8-3.5, I prefer the 14-54 hands down. It is only for compactness and use of inbuilt flash that the 25/2.8 is preferable to the 14-54. At 25mm, the f-stop on the 14-54 is f3.1 so not much diff from the 25/f2.8. But in terms of IQ, the 14-54 is better - less distortion, less vignetting, better colours (IMHO) and better bokeh.

Tks bro well i guess my decision to sell my 25mm prime has been justified hehe.

Btw went to TK they say no more E3 all sold away. Song bros in SLS still got stock... tempted to get one hahaha.

Bad experience at Funan's Song Brother outlet..

Went there today at about 6pm and enquire about the E-3, sales-representative told me that it is going at $990, brand new.
Waited for my mum to come take a look and buy for me ( hehe =) )
Went back to the shop at 7.10pm and asked for the E-3.
Waited while the sales-rep went to the store to get it..
5 mins later, my mum spotted another sales rep walking to the display cabinet and remove the display E-3, sales-rep went back in to the store
Another 5-7 mins later, the sales rep came out with a E-3 box and then took out to show that the body was nicely wrapped exclaiming "Brand new"
I was curious so i asked "Er, this one is display set right?", while pointing to the display cabinet.
Sales-rep looked abit shocked and replied, "Er, ya, last piece".
I checked the shutter count through the hidden menu and it was at 400, i asked about this and the person said that all cameras go through checking thats why the shutter has been used.(Can anyone confirm this?)
The other numbers including live view and flash were between 70-200.
After testing the camera for 10 mins, decided to buy.
So my mum went to the cashier and took out her credit card and thats when the person only told us "only nets or cash".
Ended up not buying anything..

Was very irritated with
1) the way the sales rep was talking to us, he showed no interest in the paying customers, giving half hearted response when posed questions
2) the dishonesty in their work. We could obviously see that the sales rep was taking the display set and yet they have the guts to go nicely wrap up the camera, treating it like brand new, and only admitting to their mistake when i point it out.
3) the information that they didn't provide us with, i went to enquire about the camera on monday after seeing this thread, they said nothing about cash or nets, went this evening, nothing, when paying? Only then they have the requirement. They should have informed the customers about this, like what Cathay Photo does in their emails or when you ask them at the shop.

Even if leaving point 3 out, as such low price usually means cash payment, this is definitely not the correct way to treat customers/patrons of their shop..

Usually at the factory,a few shots are tested to check that the shutter is working, but 400 is just too much

400 shutter is just way to much and it's obviously a display set.

I was in Funan and the shop told me someone just bought the last 3 units I wonder is that person is a member here hehehe then drop by Song Bro saw the promo but didnt asked as the sale rep seems to be too lazy to even look at me maybe they have so much customers and sale they dont care anymore for small fry like me:nono:

I like TK foto bought my previous 25mm f2.8 there and my nissin di466 and my 6milloin dollar crampler bag very good service nice ppl there, you could ask them for the price or availability and they wont give you a sour look face if you just ask :)....

Alan went there twice bought my filter there so far ok but not as nice experience I had over TK...

SLS shops I wont ask much as I know most of them has "if you dont buy dont bother me" attitude...

What you have just described appears to be a deliberate attempt at misrepresentation. As for bo-chap sort of responses, this was how my interaction with them went:

me with big smile: Hi, wow the E3 going for 999!
sales guy: blank stare
me: is that for the demo set?
sales guy: no
[pause, me waiting for him to explain further]
me: so... er... it's for a new piece?
sales guy (looking at the demo set): new piece one
me: i mean, do I get a new set for 999 or the demo?
sales guy: yes
me: yes... meaning...?
sales guy: blank stare
me: er... so I get a new piece?
sales guy: yes
[pause, sales guy still blank stare]
me: so... do you have stock?
sales guy: yes
me: does the price include GST?
sales guy: yes
me: er... OK thanks.

Sometimes I feel like I'm making life hard for them! So paiseh, I think I'll go ask someone else lah! I'm not expecting much, just a simple smile and some basic info about the item and transaction. And if this is their pre-sales attitude, can you imagine what their after sales would be like?

Well, that's their own problem, I honestly wouldn't bother with them after the first blank stare, cause I know that I won't get anything from them even if I went on and on till the sun sets and rises again

yeah really sad such ppl in the sales industry could belike that.. i think they are forgetting the ,ain reason he god enployed because of us the buyer! and his company and employer is still having business because of us again!

in short while he is working in that line of business he owes his salary to US!

But the way they treat us it seem we owe them something such nerves!

OT a bit, since I didn't buy an e3.

Really? Darn... now I feel cheated by Harvey Norman. The perils of being a noob and buying things on your own without a senior to help check.
