Looks like the legendary OM-series has returned in Digital form!! I'm sure it's really good news for those who have been waiting for the pancake lenses.

Hmmm... now that the 4/3 format have pancake lenses, I wonder what other 'complains' or 'nonsense' the nay-sayers will come up with now...

When are they listening to my plea for a prime 10mm (20mm 135 format)... ha ha ha...

I really need a 35mm equiv of 20mm, 35mm, if I am going to own a prime lens again... these are the two focal lengths I need most... yawn... 25mm pancake... not for me... E-420 as a backup body... sounds like got potential. E-520... not interested at the moment... when are they releasing the mid range?

but even if they were to release the 520 how many of us 510 users will really chiong for it? i can hardly fully understand my 510 yet... personally i would rather have a super wide lense for landscape...

I have spoken to them about the 10mm and 17mm primes, and hope they are looking into it... but the initial reaction of "Wah! 10mm!" indicates that this prime, if ever made, will not be a Standard Grade lens... most likely High Grade, which means... not cheap...

Hmm.... E-520 with E-3 sensor, tilt & swivel LCD, SAT, mode A Live-view, face detection.... I will chiong for it.

But maybe it is time Olympus ditch the xD card format?

I wonder how does the Live View work? Same as the E-330? Maybe not.

Edit: Take a look here. Lots of useful information. The E-420 uses Contrast-Detect AF for Live View, but still has an option for the traditional LV AF. Or both!

I am hoping at least the speed for Live View will be faster. I think Olympus is tweaking their Live View based on user feedback. Seems like every generation has a new Live View technology.

Ok folks, the prosumer/bridge cams are now obsolete.

I think there's still a place for those type of cameras, especially ones with power zooms.

I have seen though comments from those considering the Sigma DP1 have changed their mind due to the pancake lens and are now getting the E-420.

I wouldn't mind getting the E-4xx myself if only they could cram in a BLM-1 battery instead...I got four of them.

Now if Olympus would announce the ~8-16mm!

Of course the super zoom bridge cams have their place - but as the general public becomes more familiar with DSLRs, I presume future marketing efforts would be towards that direction.

The 420, I suspect, will start a whole new trend of interchangeable lens bridge cameras offering PnS staples.

I do believe the pancakes will be a hit, and Oly will in time, develop a full line of pancake primes - I can imagine the 25/f2.8 on my 410 already! :bsmilie:
