Why did you give up your 5D2 and your wonderful collection of lenses?

The color rendition reminded me of my Mamiya Sekor 55f1.4 (m42). Nice shots and may I ask which camera you used?

While using the 5D2, I also picked up a few rangefinders - the Epson RD1-s / Minolta CLE / Bessa R3A / Zeiss Ikon and a few M lenses. The joy of shooting was more "wholesome" if I could put it this way on my RF than the 5D2... that being said, the de facto system for me sadly wasn't gonna be my 5d2 anymore! I sold it rather then let the value depreciate in my drycab!

So you go back to shooting film. At times when I am sick of digital I do likewise. Currently, I only have one simple OM SLR with 7 OM lenses which I also use on my 5D. I am eyeing a good mint EOS SLR, either the EOS 3 or 5 to shoot with Fuji reala 100 or Lucky super 100/200. Whenever I look at my eldest son's wedding photos shot with the EOS 3 and no matter what I use on my EOS 5D, Leica, Zeiss, Canon, Nikon, Pentax or Olympus lenses, I can never get the same film result. I am alright with my OM 2SP but the photos are not anywhere near. There must be other external factors on why we can't shoot photos on film like the good old days, factors like film processing and print paper quality etc.. I used fixed lens range finders for many years but those were out of necessity more than a hobby, so never really got into it.

Before this, my last roll of film was probably 8-10 years back and I resisted going back to film for the longest time but when i eventually did, I couldn't stop. Nevertheless, I'm not saying anything about turning my back on digital - i still have my GF1 and i'm awaiting some adaptors to ship in. The convenience of digital is always a big plus! :thumbsup:
Btw, i'm searching for a nice old Nikon FA slr... still have some F mount lenses so why not get a nice body to match!

Before this, my last roll of film was probably 8-10 years back and I resisted going back to film for the longest time but when i eventually did, I couldn't stop. get it! haha. mine is black with the md-15 and its really good. have shot alot of backlit scenes with no issues n the grip makes it very nice to hold, a must imo if u use bigger lenses. very fun to see ppl turn heads when the motor winds. after playing with quite afew cameras i decided this was the best MF nikon you could get. 1/4000sec shutter too. i never really liked the FM(2) dun like the body shape & led readout =P

It is FF and very usable for landscape and outdoor portraiture @ ISO160. Anyway, that's another alternative camera. You don't get Kodak CCD sensors except on medium format bodies and Leica M9 nowadays.

FF sensor for pen series is damn worth considering as it can mount most old glass due to close distance with sensor. Finally a FD friendly FF without correction glass?

What do you mean by FF sensor on the rumoured PEN? If this is really true, then that's the way for Olympus to get out of the doldrum. I said it in the 4/3 section that they need to do something different, otherwise they will just fade away. Well, an FF PEN will be very good for all my OM lenses.

If they are doing that, they will need to launch a whole new series of lenses. I believe those existing ones for m4/3 probably cannot work with FF. I don't think this rumour will materialize so soon. Also Olympus started with Kodak sensor for the E-1. And then adopted CMOS for subsequent models. Leica's original M8 without AA filter is quite highly criticised. So even if Olympus launched a Kodak FF 4/3, it may be hard to get it right the first time. Furthermore CCD may not be able to compete with CMOS on the high ISO front. Olympus really need to start a marketing campaign to emphasize on IQ, colours, etc. With the masses already sold on the need to have high ISO, this may prove expensive and not yeild sustainable results. A lot remains to be seen....
I am thinking of doing this but lugging 2 large camera around is not so fun. Also the test results will be questioned, eg different post processing, taken at different resolution, compressed for web resolution yield different results blah blah blah....so I don't find any joy in doing it.
Anyway, this same photo cross posted in the OM thread is taken using SLR/c. Note this is just to showcase the DR, contrast (look at the leaves) and the bokeh and rendering. No crop, raw converted to jpg and only slight adjustment of curves. Please don't flame me for posting a badly composed photo (like the idiot in another forum). I didn't shoot this photo to enter any competition.
