Ok to store ur camera in a air tight container?

I leave it on 24/7/365
If you do not use your cam often, leaving it in the dry CABINET also will have fungus..
A dry cabi at 45% humidity delays the onset of fungus only..
I have old cameras in dry cabinet on 24/7 but never see light also have fungus, cameras that I use often and left in my camera bag doesn't even have a single infection.. so lesson learnt was to USE my camera..
Fungus is everywhere, so no need to baby the camera.. just use the camera often.. as long as the lens sees some sunlight, Im sure not so easy to get fungus..
Of course if you have a few lenses, and all these are in rotation/not used often then please go ahead and buy a proper dry cabinet.. but if it's a 1 lens kit, then a dry cabi can wait alittle till you have some budget..

Thirsty hippo sux humidity like A THRISTY HIPPO.. well to almost 10-15% humidity or lower.. at this range, the plastic coating might crack, the grease in the lens will dry up..
They are designed and supposed to run 24x7. No need to switch on off or something.

Getting a dry cabinet is more worthwhile. If u get a dry box, after some time you would need to change the silica gel.
With a dry cabinet, even if your storage with some additional lens would be fine.

You don't have to need to buy expensive thirsty hippo. Those cheaper version $1 (must without fragrant) for two will do fine too but care not to spill the liquid. Thirsty hippo has packet form too to prevent spills. Thirsty hippo is expensive bec it offers the max absorption in ml as compared to the rest.
Buy at least a bigger airtight tupperware, one box dessicate or 2 packets is sufficient. And if you hardly open, it can last very long. If it does not, means the box is not airtight. Most impression that these desiccate don't last is because it is left in open cupboards and non airtight container. If you have 600ml of water in a box at once, your equipment is long gone.
I have not experience equipment or cracking failure due to over dry from these dessicate box since film days, while the theory of grease drying sounds logical but have not encounter.

octarine is right but you don't need to buy a big big one like 100L but maybe a 30 or 60L
depending on how much gear you intend to get
also remember not always will your gear be in your dry-box so it need not be so big
but a dry-box is a one-off thing cos you will not need to get another one in the future
worthy investment, since you already spend at least 1 grand on your gear

Just to share my experience with you guys.
When I bought my DSLR, I thought keeping it in a Lock & Lock container would be good. I used a rechargeable silica gel and the colour of the silica gel changed from blue to pink in a few days.
That means it's very humid in the container.
When I bought the dry box, the RH (relative humidity) is not constant.
It may vary on the location of where it is stored, and the silica gel is not so effective as it is kept longer.
Finally, I got a dry cabinet. The RH can be kept constant and it's more worth it as compared to the dry box.

Guys dont flame me for posting this..
I'm using a lock & lock as a dry box with thirsty hippo. I did not tear the thirsty hippo aluminum paper on top fully as it can be used to control the absorbtion rate. Just need to find a gd Hygrometer and play ard with the opening of the aluminum paper.
Managed to get 40 to 45% consistantly...

not to flame you. in the long run, your way is more ex.
spent $105 on a dry cabinet, gets you a 5 year warranty.
During these 5 years, how much you going to spent on thirsty hippo and the hassle of maintaining the consistently?
