[Official] X-Pro 2 Thread : The Pro Returns

Hi guys!

Would like to seek out your expert opinions. I'm thoroughly convinced that I should get the X-pro 2 when the stocks are in. However, I'm abit lost as to what lenses I should get as this is my first time getting a mirrorless camera. I tend to take mostly portraits with some landscapes here and there. Any recommendations? Furthermore, i've read that we can use a mount that enables us to use a Nikkor lens. Do you reckon that is a good idea or am I better off sticking to Fuji lenses only. I have with me a 35mm 1.8G Nikkor lens that I am reluctant to part with. Thanks in advance yup!!!:)

If your doing a lot of landscape, the XF10-24mm offer the best zoom flexibility and else I would recommend XF14mm for it compact.
For portraits, you can start with the standard XF35 F2 or the first generation XF35 F.14, both equivalent to 51mm. Next gems for portrait would be the XF56mm.

Quick headsup...new firmware just released.

@keithwee, many thanks. After further thoughts, I want to support the local shops esp in view of the warranty. I actually went to FC to buy. However, I get a bit hesitant because the 2 shops I went that have stock say the EF-X20 don't have warranty card. I find it a bit strange because I am under the impression all Fuji product comes with a warranty card (with the serial number on it that match the product). I understand Fuji warranty policy is always ask to see warranty card and receipt (proof of purchase).

So in the end, I didn't dare to buy because got no warranty card

Hi , chances are it will be cheaper in Japan. But note that Japan domestic sets aren't covered by warranty in SG.

No prob :) in general , No warranty card simply implies that it's a parallel import item and not covered under warranty at all and as such cheaper.

For the EFX20, , just to be sure , maybe u can just call Fujifilm studio and confirm whether does it comes with a warranty card. My memory is yes, it does have a warranty card attached to it.

Hi Keith,

I'm in the midst of getting X-pro2 to work with my Leica M lens (28mm & 50mm). I would like to find out what's the main advantage of using original Fuji m adapter for Leica M lens, besides the button for activating the shooting without lens function. If I use metalbones adapter, I can still set it, by pressing the menu right? What about the lens correction (pin cushion), will it be still available if I'm using non-Fuji adapter?

Thanking you in advance for your advice.

Hi Tachi,

I tried both the metabones and Fuji adapter but gave up on the metabones after 3 units which proved very difficult to mount (i somehow had issues with getting my 35 Summilux to fit in proper with a good click on the metabones and I tried 3 units)

Other than just auto activating the shooting w/o lens function, the fujifilm adapter has electronic contacts that:

1. gives u an additional Fn button (u can map this to the specific manual lenses profiles straight)
2. able to give exif info (focal length) in images provided u have set it in the lens profiles.

Just for info, one can register settings up till 6 lenses for manual ones in the X-Pro2, and this includes settings for distortion correction, color correction and even peripheral illumination.

that said, I am sure that the cheaper china variants also do work (depends on your luck a lot) , they are less fanciful of course but sometimes what we need is just a well fitting adapter.

I have also tried this close focusing adapter from Hawk's Factory (find it on Ebay) that even fixes the long minimum focusing distance issue on M lenses. I could focus around 20-30cm instead of the typical 70-90cm MFD.

Hi Keith, thank you for the advise.

Hi, just bought the EF-X20 flash. It works very well :) with the XPRO2 but disposable AAA not green and not cost effective.

I purchased some "pro" AAA NiMh that's rated for at least 900mAH but can't find a small and good charger that just charge 2 batt (the original smart eneloop charger is very good - have Delta V function to protect the batter and charge in around 2.5 hours but physically it is too big especially because its designed to charge 4 batt).

Putting cost aside, anyone can recommend a smart and quick charger that really small for travel purpose? Can be either mains or USB powered. Can be local shop or internet shop. Many thanks.

My Xpro2 was sent in last Monday for the following issues:

1) Turn on/off camera error
2) Black frame issue
3) EVF / LCD flashes white after shot is taken (randomly occurs)
4) Overheating (baseplate of grip feels uniformly hot after short <10 mins) on standard mode

Just got a call today that the camera has been fixed, "Calibration issue" is what i heard...

Will pop by tomorrow to collect, hopefully to find out more on what happened as well.

Thankfully i had my X70 and XT1 to tide me by this 1 week :P

Wow :( hope u get it back soon.

For no 4, I think is very common the newer models do feel a bit warm after some use, mine inclusive.

Is there such a thing like a magnifier eye piece you can attach to xpro2 viewfinder?

Any idea if X-pro 2 bought in Hong Kong will have valid international warranty?

Intend to get one from Hong Kong this week.

Yes bro, u r right , there is a sticky thread all along in Fujifilm forum with an official answer from Fujifilm themselves. Take a look there.

Didn't realise it's in the sticky.
Using the Clubsnap app so totally missed it.

Got my answer.

Thanks
