Am I reading this right? 5 aspheric and 1 ED elements in this lens? If so, then will be bloody impressed

yes that's what they said on B&H photo too...

that's a lot of crazy stuff in there now that you mentioned it...

Wah... nowadays must be very easy and cheap to make aspherical elements... LOL

Just share some info on battery life from a MF lens user experience.

Covered the Thaipusam on Fri 0001hrs to 0600hrs.
6hrs straight shooting at a regular pace.

Over 700 shots in RAW
All on one battery.

Airplane mode is turned off.
Camera switched off when not in use.

The super sharp and highest resolving 55mm FE only got 3 aspheric lenses inside. This zoom lens got 5 aspheric lenses with 1 ED lens. Think can slice durians...

Still not interested in an f/4. Haha

i tried the Timelaspe LE app today.
It is pretty fantastic app..however, i think because it's LE edition i can't set the ISO/Shutter etc..it was all automatic so the exposure keeps changing and the camera kept using ISO6400
I wonder if the FULL version has the capability to set those settings? If so..i don't mind buying it...
To switch regions i had to factory default the camera...lost all my settings...quite silly..

I tried the 24-70 f4 E Mount zoom on the A7 yesterday. Initial impressions aren't that positive - don't really like the fact that it extends out so much when you zoom from 24 to 70mm.... Even the kit 28-70 doesn't do that - that only extends by a little bit. The Zeiss zoom does feel weightier and consequently give the impression of the better build quality.

AFAIK the FE24-70/4Z don't extend over the entire zoom range

Sorry using iPhone now so hard to do a proper embed....

I expected it not to extend much due to my positive experience with the kit zoom. If only the kit zoom is a constant f4 :p

Nope, this one does, and moves the lens hood together with the extending front portion!
Like some cheap kit lenses from other makes I know of :p

To be fair though pro f2.8 zooms like Nikon and Canon ones do extend as well, but their huge lens hoods serve to hide / cover that up. Maybe it's not possible to get quality without an extending design.

No leh..i think i remembered my old Canon 24-70 F2.8 II also had the hood move with the lens..only the mk1 didn't

Oops ok my info outdated - wasn't a canon user already when the mark II came out - but it's quite horrifying to hear!
The Nikon 24-70'a hood, though big, hid the extending portion of the lens very well....

Full version can select ISO using Custom Theme.

Think to keep it small Bo bian . Already got 5 asph element and one ed . That's where all the moolah goes to. Plus supposedly the OSS is 3-4 stops ? Hopefully can offset the f4 to go at lower shutter speed, the online review showing the OSS at max zoom is quite steady
