I'm thinking if I should get the FE55 f1.8 or wait for the FE24-70 f4. Gonna use for travelling quite a bit the next few months but don't know how the Zeiss zoom would perform. What do you guys say?

I think a Zeiss 24-70 is an interesting proposition. But let's see the price and massiveness of the lens before we speak.

If it's priced like 2k, and weighs twice the weight of the kit lens. I will stick with my primes.

Hmm... I did make it work with a manual lens when I tried to take a selfie...

Tested my A7R with the prescribed setting.

No light leaks displayed. So with similar conclusion of those tested, Singapore batch seems unaffected?

Camera not with me, so can't test. Maybe if you have the camera with you, try out shooting at the prescribed setting listed...

Haha... if Sony Singapore continues to delay launch, I am sure hiadees here will be keen to get it at $1,300-$1350 (RRP), so if you managed to get it from Japan or HK between $1000-$1200, the commission is quite good leh.

Just tested the 55FE (friend's overseas set). Super sharp with very very nice bokeh!

Think will not be returning the lens to him..... Hahaha....

I guess depends on your subject. For portraiture, a f2.8 is rather fast for a 90mm. At least the nose and ears are not OOF.

For FD, I guess your best bet would be eBay. There are a couple of Japanese sellers selling a couple of mint ones.

the rear of the case is disappointing though.

no more articulating screen and the "fn" button is covered. leather material looks classy though!
