I apologize if this has already been asked and answered.

Why the Sony AF adapter need a mirror? Other adapters don't seem to need one and I don't see AF needing a mirror.

because most of the DSLR lenses are NOT made for CDAF. hence, you still need a mirror and AF sensors

Just bought the a7. But just wanna ask u bros out here if its normal that the camera does not make any sound from sensor during cleaning mode. I dont hear any sound from a7 but My old Sony a55 does make a ”zzz" sound during cleaning mode.

Perhaps if we wield that on an MRT Train we'll be striking fear into the hearts of Singaporeans :bsmilie:

Not all i guess, some can still sleep soundly next to the bearer of katana lol

That also explains why other adapters for other lenses are slowing in AF , as the la-ea4 has a built in drive motor for AF on older lenses without SSM amd SAM, in addition to the dedicated PDAF sensor.

its normal, mine also dont have any loud sound as well.

Hey guys! Firstly, anyone using RF lenses (or 35 cron asph specifically) on their A7 encounter problems with corner smear? Secondly, there are users reporting light leaks with the first batch of A7/Rs… anyone here have that as well? I didn't notice any on mine so I'm a little concern that my inexperience eyes may have missed them.

I don't have any 35mm rf lenses. I only got a 15, 40 and 50. Only 15mm has corner fringing issues. The others are ok so far on the A7.
Light leaks issues I have not heard of them ... Is that possible on digital sensor ?

Camera not with me, so can't test. Maybe if you have the camera with you, try out shooting at the prescribed setting listed...

Does anyone actually found such issue here?

usually u can feel the sensor shaking when off camera and during sensor cleaning mode, but I don't feel anything. Guess it's normal a7 .

Will test over the New Year...

The leaks are actually from the gap between the flange and the mount. I had shot at highest ISO and exposed at 30secs before, on different occasions that is…. never together as a combo…. I haven't notice any leaks… maybe I should try the prescribed settings tonight.

Not surprising.

One of the first things I noticed when using my 280mm (~3kg weight) on the A7 is that if I lift the setup by the camera grip rather than the lens, there's some play between the silver and orange parts of the mount. By contrast, the NEX-7 has no such "flexibility" around the mount.

I just figured there must be a reason they designed it that way, and have since lifted the setup by the lens rather than by the camera.

i've only shot 30 sec exposures at iso 100-400... haven't encountered a scene i needed to shoot at ISO 25600 at 30 secs... sounds almost like the canon 5D3 "light leak" from shooting a lens cap / body cap issue. or should i call it overblown non-issue

even when i was shooting northern lights, max i went was iso 3200 , 30 - 60 secs exposure.

iso 100 30 secs F8. no light leaks

The Admiring Light reviewed the A7 and had this to say

"Autofocus is quick and accurate, and yields usable continuous AF as well"

I guess opinions are all over the place on A7 AF. They also just reviewed the E-M1...
