Actually as thoth mentioned slr lens are cheaper especially if u don't mind the bulk and are willing to go 3rd party. Just bite the bullet and spend 300 on the la ea4 which gives you fast af depending on the lens. I've bought tamron 28-75 2.8 for around $500. Sony 50 1.4 for around $600. Also have the sigma 35 1.4,costs more than the fe 35, but double the aperture size.

Considering oso that not many rangefinder lenses r working very well on d A7/Rs. I've got better results from SLR lenses at the moment.

Super fast lens, you can try the canon FD, nikon and minolta SLR lens as mentioned by many bros. they have a number of 1.2, 1.4 fast lenses which you can adapt on A7. but they will be large and even larger after slapping on the adapter.

Yeah. As long as u r not gg for premium aperture lenses. Should b really affordable.

Bro. This is the lens u should get if u r not holding any 50mm manual focus lenses. I've got the first hand experience wif it. But ready to fork out 1.4k for it. Haha. Welcome to d club.

Since you have a RX1, it will be a nice upgrade to go straight to a A7R with no AA filter. A very good improvement!

Is it true that PDAF is causing the camera to hunt during videos? I read somewhere that this is a tendency for PDAF. If so, that I think I should disable the PDAF function in the A7. Seems like there is no apparent benefit for this additional function in the A7. Any thoughts?

I am not a video person so can't comment. But I leave pdaf on as I thought its a tad faster when it's on. Or could be placebo effect on me haha

PDAF cant be turned off and is passive if your Af is on with a compatible lens. Regardless on or off in the menu, pdaf will always stay on , u cant turn it off. The option in the menu only shows the grids of the pdaf area and does not serve as a function to turn it on or off. Also , PDAF does not come in play in dark/low light conditions and above f6.3. Running on those condtions, it switches to full CDAF. Thats the nature of hybrid sensors.

Actually most SLR lenses r cheaper than rangefinder lenses. A good Bokeh can be achieved easily wif a f/1.4 lens within 200-300 dollars.
