I think I just answered my question... thanks again! :)
Hey... thanks for your reply... i was suspecting this is the one but after turning it on and see no difference... i'm actually thinking if this is the right one... so i'm sorry to trouble you.... if I want FF on my nex lenses... should i turn this on or off?

Finally, this explains why the results I'm getting with the A7r/35FE2.8 are beyond any other camera I've ever used and why when I see a photograph now, I can tell when its been taken with that combo. Is the A7r/35FE2.8 better than the D800E/Otus? Hmmmm......

I think ZoomZ has also noticed this phenomenon.

Sorry to be such bother. Will removing the rear baffle pose problems to the lens? Dust, damaging of electronics, what not...

Tried the FE 55/1.8 during the VIP launch event by Sony. AF is definitely moderate but IQ is top notch in terms of sharpness, IQ and Bokeh. Wish it was a f/1.4 though. :bsmilie:

At 55mm, I think f1.8 is more than great!

Here's a test shot with the pre-war Carl Zeiss Jena Biotar 58mm f2 at wide open... pic loaded from facebook but you could tell this lens is a gem, cheap cheap zeiss optics anyone?

dust if you keep the lens uncapped for long periods of time. but usually the lens is either on camera or covered by your lens cap. so no big issue

at f/1.8 for the FE 55, it costs around 1.4k. I think its overpriced for tat kinda aperture even though it is made perfect for the sensor and wif AF. Hmm.

What about protecting the lens' PCB from water/humidity?

haha wonder y they nvr try the Sigma 35 1.4 with the A7r. Should have tested the highest scoring 35mm DSLR lens vs the 35 2.8.

the baffle doesn't form a seal anyway. with the lens cap on that forms a better seal than the baffle alone.

if you drop the camera plus lens in water den good luck to you kekeke. baffle or no baffle no difference

To be honest I have the feeling most lenses released the last couple of years are overpriced, it aren't just Sony's FE lenses. Prices seems to have kind of doubled the past half decade especially since the reinvention of affordable 135 format camera bodies.

The law of inflation with supply and demand... the richer we get, the more we get ripped off. LOL. Anyway, who is ordering the FE55/1.8 via Amazon? Seems delivery confirmed ship out by 22nd Dec for pre-order.

I'm not talking about submerging the lens into sea water ;) but I fear it still might protect the PCB a bit better in case small traces of rain water sneak through the lens' seal. Though, in this case the lens we're talking about isn't weather sealed to begin with anyway. ;)

How much will it cost to repaint to make it like new? Someone trying to sell this really used set with paint-loss and yet asking for near to brand new price (probably more than airport price) less off not-sure used or sealed extra battery:

not much point buying from amazon US though hehe... with 7% GST the price is $13++ SGD after conversion. might as well get a local set with warranty at RRP of $1349 :p

perhaps better deals on amazon japan

You are very right bro. Furthermore believe they have design the FE Len purely for the full frame sensor and that will last time for future full frame sensor for their product.

Ya lor. Weird seller. Paint loss set probably can't even sell at second hand shops at Peninsula Plaza.

Will be lucky to find buyer who will be willing to pay for less than $2k, especially when retail price starts to drop with healthy supply coming after Dec 2012 initial launch impulse.

Repaint for what? Not worth it, it's a camera.

No all buyers are hung up on appearance. Lots of cameras with scratches, paint loss, etc being sold at 2nd hand shops. Paint loss alone doesn't affect the camera's performance.

There is always a Leica for comparison in price for lenses when manufacturers try to price their lenses.

In Leica world, their premium lenses are always short in supply with long list of demand. Price of new set in secondary market usually is higher than than buying directly from retail stores, since buyers are willing to get a new set without waiting further for months.

I think Sony is playing similar strategy, by releasing their premium lenses gradually - 35FE and 55FE.
