wa very good diy. i also did my own leatherette skin for the A7.

as long as your leather is not too thick, the doors will open fine.

From what i can tell, the A7 i have looks powder coated. But anyway, no issue for me, i'll just take a black paint marker and color over when it gets worse. :D

Just received my Aki-Asahi leatherette sheet and done cutting. Will paste it when i get back and have alcohol to clean the surface.

For those who wanna DIY,
here's the template i made (print, cut the "reversed" template, spray mount/glue it and attached to the reverse side of your leatherette/vinyl, and cut away)
The template has the portion for the 2 side doors and strip for the bare portion on the right side grip. Note: the side door panels have not been tested to see if it'll prevent them from opening fully, if it doesn't, just need to trim the width a little.

Just an update - i went to another shop to 'test-drive' the A7 and kit lens - same issue with the test set. If anyone has any same experience, please do share. I don't believe its the body and the issue lies with the lens. I mounted my Novoflex + 50mm Summilux last evening and there is no such issue.

Yes I agree... it's the lens...
I have the wobble on the kit lens, on my el cheapo Photokit adapter but not on my Voigtlander adapter.

Have you tried the Sony DSLRs? the wobbling was even worse.

Anyway, It's just a kit lens, so it's fine with me... I do all of my shooting on my m mount lenses anyway. Get a good mount (Novoflex or Voigtlander) for a good fit.

Yes, seems certain brands and models of legacy lenses works very well on the A7. I have tried bro overworked's collection of Pentax and Minolta legacy lenses and they are phenomenal. Just got myself a copy of Pentax K SMC 135/2.5 on eBay and waiting for its delivery end of the month to play wif it. Heavy lens though around 500g. Still toying on the idea of purchasing the Minolta Rokkor 58/1.2... Keke...

Lol... you people are driving up the prices of legacy lenses...

Anyone interested in a Canon FD 50mm f/1.2 with hood & adaptor...? It's in fabulous condition. haha...

The A7's paint seems to be quite soft. Have wore through some corners to what seems to be silver bottom from just 1 holiday trip. Never had the problem with my Nex 7 which has been through much more and brought up on a hike to Kota Kinabalu.

that's damn fast... I have been using mine for a month, been on a trip and thankfully no wear like yours... hehe...

Haha... pulled the trigger on the Rokkor 58/1.2... :bsmilie:

Congrats, bro! From the pics you posted with it, it looks to be a great piece of glass, with nice contrast wide open.

Tks bro. Now need to work on really shooting something interesting n not body parts. Haha. Looking forward to more birding shots from u.

Is there a 2X tele converter for Pentac K mount. Wondering if could b used on my Pentax 135/2.5 SMC?

Want to get the A7... but the 35mm and 55mm FL all boh stock..... buy the body to molest???

You can also use it a paper weight for now... Haha...

There is a nice kit zoom, or use adapter with all types of lenses....

I have a buddy who has his 35FE bought and kept in drybox with the unopened box unused as he spends all the time with his Leica lenses. Can try to persuade him to sell if keen.

Or call up all the Sony stores.... you may be able to find a set of the 35mm FE.

Do you already own canon lenses? Then a metabones adapter is the best for now. If you don't you may want to try the voigtlander or leica lenses as the rest have done

Went Wisma to hands-on A7R this afternoon. The camera feel so light, too bad feel it like a cheap plastic toy , didnt tio poison haha

Well, your NEX-6 is even lighter, isn't it? ;)

The leatherette i got is from aki-asahi. It's quite thick. It'll prevent the side doors from opening fully if there's no gap. Just needed to stick it to the right most side and it's fine.

Kind of understand what u mean. 1st impression is doesnt feel solid due to lightweight but will get use to it. Infact now kind of feel heavy after throwing on voigtlander 35/1.2

Loving it only thing is wish the sony name was smaller and not smack in the middle of the camera
