Yeah. Use d RX1 for overseas traveling or just casual street shooting. A7/R wif a good 50s for other uses.

In discussing the A7/A7R, and admittedly without trawling all 108 pages here, I could use some pointers to the RAW file handling please.
I have LR4.4, it's up to date.
Obviously it won't play nice with the Sony RAW files. Will this change, or will I necessarily have to update to LR5?
I have Sony Image Data Converter 4 already, (I'm a long time a700 owner), and can convert the RAW to TIFF's I suppose, but would much prefer to simply open them and use LR as I always have.
I use CS4 as well, same issue, TIFF's are fine RAW's not.
Any suggestions?
Gary

If you scroll few pages back I think we discuss about it, but so far only LR5.3 RC could handle A7/r raw file, but also there's someone in the net who did compare Adobe vs Sony Data conversion how they render the raw files seem for now its Sony who could extract more details than Adobe. Best bet now is process you raw via Sony data conversion apps then save it TIFF then do more processing if you like via LR.

I'm in the same boat, using LR 4.4. So far I've used Adobe DNG Converter beta 8.3; but it has no provision for automatically deleting the .ARW files after it converts them, so I have to do that manually. The other thing is that bro Albertri showed that Image Data Converter actually does a slightly better job with the conversion than Adobe DNG, but it runs slow and crashes on my Mac.

So, yeah, looks like if I want to work straight from my .ARW files, I'm gonna have to let Adobe get away with twisting my arm into upgrading to LR5…

. . . unless someone knows of yet another alternative . . .

Mine sometimes after using Sony then uses LR5... my LR5 would crash....

Maybe I haven't done intensive processing yet. Let me try over d weekends. Hmm

Yeah could be both trying to use the same memory space but if that happens its the OS fault... I have 8gb ram plus using SSD for caching... also using Win7 oppose to Win8.1....

My Air is current . . . ok, I'll try another batch today and see how it does. Still, converting to .tiff and then--where needed--to .jpg is a pain in the a$$.

Thanks all. I even looked at the DNG converter, but the list of supported cameras didn't seem to include the A7/A7R.
If this does work though, I might, although as others here (and elsewhere on the web) have pointed out, the Sony software seems to be the best.
I did like LR, but not enough to be forced into an upgrade every time I replace my camera.

Agree... workflow is impt. Hope to get everything thru LR, easier... Seems the only way is to go to LR5.3 RC. Especially if u r gonna mass process...
